I would say you have an early 2012 model. Yanmar did not announce the release of LX HST models until March, 2012. The engine was probably older stock.

YANMAR | Yanmar America Announces New Lx HST Series Compact Utility Tractor

By the way, there are free 50 hour fluid and filter changes on these models. If the previous owner did not have the maintenance performed you should be able to get that scheduled with your local Yanmar dealer. My dealer was willing to give me the fluids and filters so I could perform the maintenance myself.

Good call! Thanks for the info. The previous owner mentioned that he had the 50 hr service done by the dealer, so I'm good there.

Do you know, are these engines considered Tier 3, or were they able to meet Tier 4 interim without the use of a DPF?

Very nice -- you did good!

Thanks :)

Interesting question, so I did some research. I do believe the engine in your Yanmar LX complies with interim Tier4. I'll check my emissions plate when I get home, I know mine says has a date of 2012/01.

Interim Tier 4 Standards 19 ≤ kW < 37
CO 5.5 g/kWh
NMHC+NOx 7.5 g/kWh
PM 0.3 g/kWh

2011 EPA Certification Data for BYDXL2.19K4N (Yanmar 4TNV88 Engine found in 41-45hp LX models)
CO 2.8 g/kWh
NMHC+NOx 6.4 g/kWh
PM .2 g/kWh

On thing worth noting is these LX engines are direct-injection (DI). Most other tractor engines in this horsepower class are indirect injection (IDI).

Interesting. Good work finding that info.

I hate all the aftertreatment on my pickup...I don't want to deal with it on my tractor, too.

Well, seeing as how I'm a hot rodder, I can't leave things well enough alone.

Like everyone else, I hated the position and short length of the 3-point lever....so I fixed it :)

Nice work!

The only problem I foresee is your modification may not be compatible with the rear-remote hydraulic valve kit. There are two levers from that kit that stick out of the opening currently covered by rectangular black plate, just below your new lever. I suspect that is the reason the 3-point lever is so short.

Well, then I'll cut that one up, too. haha.

Do you have any info on that rear remote kit? A part number / cost maybe? Aside from some additional lighting, that's the only other mod I want to do to this tractor.

I gotta say though, the new lever is 100x better than the old one. It feels so much better, and easier to manipulate with the added leverage.

I can tell your new lever looks much more comfortable just by looking at it!

I ordered the rear remote kit a couple days ago, you can just call a dealer and ask for it and they'll know what you're talking about. The price is $1165 plus shipping (cough cough cough). I'll know more, part numbers, etc when the kit gets here.

There is an OEM light kit but I think its halogen. I ordered a pair of these and mounted them to the bolt holes on the ROPS and the illumination is spectacular:

There is a fuse for the auxiliary lighting but I wanted to keep it separate from the accessory/key switch so I added an independent circuit and fuse box. I hid the splits for the two flood lights behind a tail light.

Ouch, $1165....lol. I better wait a bit...don't want to pi$$ my wife off too badly.

Thanks for the link on the lights. Those look like a great value for the money.

I keep finding uses for this tractor. I should have bought one years ago. lol

Pulled the top off of my K/5 Blazer. Normally to lift it off is a 2-4 guy job....did it all myself :)

Nicely done! I've been meaning to do try something like that with Jeep TJ top. They [tractors] are pretty handy!
