Was the front axle engaged doing those tasks?
Yeah running in 4x4,the hills I had to pull mowing where pretty good ones and sandy so just left it in 4x4. I really haven't thought to much about it,just operate it the same as the other 7040..

My local dealer says a change to 11.2 x 24 front tires will damage driveline over the "long" hours. The 7040 in Canada are often sold with 360R/70x20 (R1 W)tires. According to the Michelin tire book this has the same rolling circumference as 9.5 x 24.
I was told that the 360R/70x20 is the very close to 12.2 x20 but have not seen that in writing. Another thing is the cost, 360R/70x20, R1 W is about $750 per tire plus the wheel. 12.2 x 20 should be cheaper as it is often found on New Holland TN series.

I've researched going to 11.2-24's on my 7040 a lot. I've talked to my dealer and several others and nobody really had an answer. All you really need to know is the front to rear drive ratio and you could do the calculations yourself. The problem is nobody seems to know the number. You generally want a 0-5% overrun in the front. "If" the 9.5's were around zero, then the 11.2's would be just under 5%, depending on manufacturer.

I've talked to several people directly at Kubota, also. No one has been able to tell me the actual front/rear ratio. The most knowledgable person I talked to, though, said that it would be fine to run 11.2-24's on the front with the stock rear tires.

What about the 5040 and 6040? They use the same 9.5 fronts as the 7040, but have smaller rear tires. Do they have a different front to rear gear ratio? It doesn't seem like it would make sense for kubota to have different gears in them.

Check on the Firestone SAT II 23 R1 in the 11.2 x 24 size. They seem to be a slightly lower profile than others ... come in 4 and 8 ply. This would probably give a roll radius between normal 9.5 and 11.2. A little extra front lead is good.

Just wondering if anyone has anymore updated information on whether they have swapped to the larger front tires on a 7040 or 7060 and if they have had any problems?

Thanks
