I misunderstood your question. The package deal for the L4400 is on the cover of the August 13, 2010 issue of TractorHouse Magizine. It does not say what brand the 6' cutter and 6' Box Blade are but they are the same color as the tractor.

Why do tractor companies need to offer a free loader? They must have one
heck a profit margin in order to give away a loader.

We looked at the L4400 but after driving the L3940 we had lay down the extra
couple a grand for the L3940.

I like the L4400HST that I have had for over a year. It has been trouble free for the 180 hours I have put on it thus far. The L4400 is a basic simple machine without a lot of electronics which may apeal to some and not others. The HST is great when doing loader work and working on hills. The machine will run out of traction before running out of power. I run a 6 foot rotary cutter and it handles it well.

How do you plan to remove the stumps without a backhoe? When I bought my first tractor (L3130), I didn't get the backhoe. I removed a couple of stumps with the loader. It took a long time and I think it was very hard on the tractor. If your intention is to remove stumps with your tractor, I would strongly suggest looking at something with a backhoe.

As dex3361 says, the 4400 is a good basic tractor for a good price. In order to determine if this is a good deal, you will need to know the make and model of the equipment as the difference of cost in make/model is significant. Even the type of shields will change the cost significantly.

Mind did not come as a "package deal", but I got a deal when I bought it all together and that way I got to choose what I got. If you buy the right stuff, it could be your last purchase.

The only thing to consider is if you want or need the hydrostatic trans. The ones in the package deals are all gear drive from what I have seen. For most tractor work that is fine, but if you will be doing a lot of loader work the HST is really nice. I don't know about the quality of the implements in the package deal, but some of them I've seen had Taylor way implements, which are pretty good.

I also second the comment about needing a backhoe to remove stumps. A 4" dia. stump is about as big as I would want to try to get out with the loader on those. Any bigger and it takes a lot of time and is really hard on the tractor and loader. With a backhoe you could easily tackle 12-18" stumps, and larger if you are patient.

A shovel can dig a hole big enough for some dynamite to lift those stumps out:laughing: then you can move them off with the loader...

Everyone who has replied has been a big help. I am getting lots of great information from all of you. The stump issue is a lot bigger than I imagined. I guess that is what happens with age. :) I am now thinking that a used, larger tractor, with a backhoe may be a better solution. Any advice on this thought would be appreciated as well.

Thanks again to all of you for your quick and thoughtful replies. However, I don't think that I want to try dynamite yet. :)

I know someone in WV that has an L4300 for sale, loader, chains. It has 50 hrs on it and has been parked inside. I have pics of it, and can put you in contact with owner if interested. Asking $18K.
