Everyone who has replied has been a big help. I am getting lots of great information from all of you. The stump issue is a lot bigger than I imagined. I guess that is what happens with age.I am now thinking that a used, larger tractor, with a backhoe may be a better solution. Any advice on this thought would be appreciated as well.
Thanks again to all of you for your quick and thoughtful replies. However, I don't think that I want to try dynamite yet.![]()
Get the tractor you want, don't worry about the stumps. The package deal you first mentioned sounds like a pretty good deal, plus you would have new equipment that you wouldn't have to worry about breaking down, etc. Then you can rent or hire an excavator for a few days. Around here you can rent a 15 ton excavator for around $750 a day, or $2000 a week. That may sound like a lot, but you would be amazed at how much quicker an excavator will get stumps out vs any 3pt hitch backhoe on the market.
