It would have been nice to have that chart on the inside of the door, like most welders. Guess I'll just have to make my own.

I was thinking the same thing. I will reach out to Mark @ everlast to see if they have one.

What size wire was that, .030?
I haven't had much time to fool around with my 140E yet. Put in a roll of .030 flux core since it fit the drive roll that came with it.

I want to cut the nozzle back, but I might hold off untill I can make some longer contact tips(I work at a machine shop).

I plan on timing the wire feed speed so I can use IPM instead of just the numbers on the knob.

And I have a DC clamp on ammeter, so I can adjust to an actual current level. It would have been nice to have that chart on the inside of the door, like most welders. Guess I'll just have to make my own.
That was .030" NR-211. If I owned that machine I wouldn't run anything but .030" Lincoln L-56 Mig wire. I like NR-212 better than NR-211, But I think the smallest wire size that NR-212 comes in is .045".
If that machine belonged to me I would grind down the nozzle! But once the gun got really warm I could move the nozzle back. That made a huge difference in the sound, and quality of weld.

Charts, wire speed, none of that means anything to me. I turn dials until I'm happy with the sound, and looks of a weld. Once I find the sweet spots I mark the face of the welder, so I can find the sweet spot faster next time.;)

Yup, that's what I'm going to do.

After a while, I'll have many settings.
And I'll arrange them in a grid.

Kind of a like the charts that come with most small wirefeed welders.

Just would have been nice to have one come with it. I like the one on my SP125+. Not that I use those settings. I like a little more volts than the chart lists.

Wow! What a difference DCEN makes with flux core wire. Who knew? :ashamed: Thanks for your advice. Much less splatter. Now to just practice, practice, practice.

The flux core drive rolls help in feeding too. Are you using them?
As far as pushing the nozzle back, they will screw on and off if you rotate them. The spring design that holds them on acts like a type of thread. I don't recommend going anything more than flush with gas, but with flux core, a little stick out might not hurt.
