I'm shopping around for a LP BB1560 Box Scrapper for my new Kubota 2601.
Ok, here are my silly questions,

If I purchase one local, is this something the dealer will usually deliver to your property?
If so, at 500lbs do they bring it into your garage for you, or do they kick her off their trailer at the bottom of your driveway?
If I were to pick it up at the dealer with my pick up truck, how do I get her out of my pickup at home?

No, I didn't get pallet forks, and I don't believe I noticed hooks for chains on the FEL.

After I get her in the garage, what Is the best way to place her about? Up off the floor a bit? Wood - Blocks? Does Level matter? Directly on the floor?

I know I'll be back asking questions when it comes removing the back hoe...

BTW; Do Box Scrappers come with user manuals?

Thanks everyone,

You guys have to help out, I know if I ask these questions over the phone or in person they'll take me right to the cleaners.

If I purchase one local, is this something the dealer will usually deliver to your property?Yes but that has to be discussed when you purchase attachment.
If so, at 500lbs do they bring it into your garage for you, or do they kick her off their trailer at the bottom of your driveway? Usually drop it where ever you want within reason.,
If I were to pick it up at the dealer with my pick up truck, how do I get her out of my pickup at home? Straps from your bucket, easy pick if you done something like that before.

No, I didn't get pallet forks, and I don't believe I noticed hooks for chains on the FEL. Humn, looks looks you need to order bucket hooks, Ken on this site sells real good ones ,welded or drill and bolt on.

After I get her in the garage, what Is the best way to place her about? Up off the floor a bit? Wood - Blocks? Does Level matter? Directly on the floor? I set mine on 4"X4"'s in my carport.

Did you get the ssqa for your fel,(bucket) to swap off bucket with forks?

That depends on distance. It is expensive for the dealer to send a HD truck, HD trailer and mechanic/driver any distance. Every trip is two segments (outbound + return) for the dealer.

If so, at 500lbs do they bring it into your garage for you, or do they kick her off their trailer at the bottom of your driveway?
Probably would unload at the entrance to your garage, if the HD truck and HD trailer can get that far. If not, mount it on the B2601 Three Point Hitch and mobile be. The driver will help you mount. Later, alone, you will wonder: HOW DID HE DO THAT SO EASILY? ~~~No, Backhoe in the way, again. Tow/skid in with the tractor.

If I were to pick it up at the dealer with my pick up truck, how do I get her out of my pickup at home?
The safest way would be to drag it off the truck with the tractor, using ramps and chain.
As you have a Backhoe/counterbalance installed on your B2601, you can lift the roped/chained Box Blade 2" with the FEL, move out the truck, then lower the Box Blade. DO NOT MOVE THE TRACTOR AT ALL. This will be your first pucker.

I don't believe I noticed hooks for chains on the FEL.
Chain hooks are always optional. You want 5/16" size. I use and recommend Ken's Bolt On Hooks, Maryland.
Lowe's and Home Depot sell Grade 70, 5/16" chain, 20', in a bag CHEAP. Have Lowe's cut to 8' + 12' lengths before you depart the store; buy two Grade 70, 5/16" slip hooks for the two new ends. Grab hook on one end, slip hook on other end. Walmart sells Grande 70, 1/4" chain, in a bag CHEAP. Look in the TOWING/TRANSPORT section. Grade 70, hear??

LINK: Ken's Bolt on Grab Hooks <<Home>>

After I get her in the garage, what Is the best way to place her about? Up off the floor a bit? Wood - Blocks? Does Level matter? Directly on the floor? Directly on the floor. When directly on the floor it is difficult to crush a foot under the resting implement. Zero pivots on a Box Blade; fine to store outside, under a cotton tarpaulin, which will not sweat on the implement.

I know I'll be back asking questions when it comes removing the back hoe...
Nah. You will be asking WHEN YOU HAVE TO PUT IT BACK ON.

BTW; Do Box Scrappers come with user manuals? Most do not. Land Pride might provide a manual. Reams of Box Blade operational experience here.

If local and you bought everything from them.. they MIGHT deliver.. probably not.

if you have a loader and a pickup truck I'm not seeing a problem.

get them to load in your truck, and then you unload.

absence of a chain hook on your loader does not mean that you can't pick up anything with your loader. ;)

lift the implement out and then do whatever with it. mine lives in my pasture.. sounds like yours may be garage kept.. if so, you might wan't it on some sort of heavy duty roll around deal.. maybee your butler can hitch it up for you when you want to take it out for a spin. ;)

toss a palate on the ground and set it down.. lots of possibilities.

remember.. don't scratch it up.. ;)

The dealer I just contacted is over an hour away. I'll ask about delivery and what is includes.
I have a concrete floor in the Garage, along with 10'5" in ceiling height, I should have room to place it where I want to.
The tractor won't be here until next week, so I'm attending YouTube college right now trying to familiarize myself with how the three point hitch works.
I have a couple of home made 2"X 12"s that I use for Atv's and Bikes that would work for sliding it off. Using The Back Hoe sounds like fun though.
I wouldn't have thought of moving the Truck away and not the tractor. This stuff is starting to come back to me now. I worked Concrete Constuction for several years twenty plus years ago before going into the LE field. Sometimes we would wait for hours on concrete where I would help or watch the machine operators/excavators. Yes, the Empty dump truck pulls up under the full loader bucket, rather than the full loader bucket driving around dangerous looking for the empty dump truck. Simple/common sense.

Did you purchase the tractor new from a dealer? Could you add the box blade to the order and have them delivered together?

Thanks, I thought of this, and the dealer only has the LPBB1260 in stock. It's 100lbs lighter and $400.00 less money.
I don't think it's built as good. I did a search on the forum. There is one member who had buckled up a few of the flat stock steel attachment bars on his unit. While ( Pushing ).

Dealer's cost will be somewhat like this:

50 miles X 2 = 100 miles X $1.50 per mile = $150. So $200 to $225 delivery charge would be reasonable.

(DRIVER: two hours driving time + 30 minutes combined loading and unloading, stop for coffee and doughnut = 1/3 of a day.)

One think you can do if you decide to go get it with your own pickup truck you can put a piece of 3/4 plywood in the bed to keep from scratching heck out of the bed when you haul implements or anything that is heavy and could mess up the bed. I keep such a piece vertical in the garage up against the wall for just that sort of thing. Anytime I have to go to the freight terminal to pickup something heavy or sharp, I throw it in the bed.

It kinda simulates the old wooden floors that pickup trucks used to have in them when I was a kid. It keeps stuff from sliding around too. I cut a piece that the tailgate will just barely close on. And of course it is 48 inches wide so it fit's the wheel wells.

As for the hooks and unloading ideas, it sounds like you have it in hand.

heck, cheap 7/16 OSB might do as good, be lighter and way cheaper. lowes has OSb for about 7$ a sheet. I know it's not the same as real plywood.. but I use plenty of it in projects. :)

My dealer has a loaner trailer that he lets customers use for implement delivery. With my lpgs I just used my fel and a heavy nylon strap to lift it off. Or your new hooks/chains.

Then you leave it in a convenient spot OUTSIDE. It's a farm implement! It will get rusty and have a nice patina no matter what you do for storage.

I have an 11 year old Tacoma 4x4 that I use for beating around. It's owned by my Family of German Shepherds. 230K on the ODO. The only service I have ever done to her is Lube, filters and three sets of Plugs. Just when I was thinking of retiring it, Toyota recalls the Frame and replaces the entire frame under Waranty. Four days later and free rental returned, I have a new truck again. She rides tighter than a Nun.
She has a Composite bed in her, plus I purchased the accessory rubber bed mat. 3/8" thick.
I found a local dealer who also didn't have this Model Land Pride scrapper in stock. He gave me a great price on it and offered to put it on his large land Pride order going in this week. I should have it in two weeks. When I asked about delivery, while mentioning that I was a green horn, he said not to worry, he'll get it to my house.
I offered him a credit card for a deposit and he said not to worry about it. Will e-mail when it comes in.
Couldn't ask for better!

Now please remember this service and business next time you buy!! this is a company/people that appreciate your business and work with you.. price isn't everything service during and after the sale to me is HUGE! I will gladly pay a little more for stuff if they have service like this.. heck look at the post on the delivery charge or your time to chase to go get the thing.. all of a sudden the price difference isn't so great and service was even better...

I hear what you are saying. I have an online Business myself. Just under 2k in transactions = 100% positive 0 Negative feedback from three different websites. Knock on wood..Only a few customers took extra work. I find if you are 100% honest with your customers, you have already solved 99% of most any problems that may ever come about.
I'm going to purchase a snow blade next and will phone this dealer first. (If all goes good)
The Kubota site shows one Hydraulic model, though it looks like it is made for the the Kubota Quick attach system only?
I hope I didn't screw myself by going with a pinned on bucket instead of the QA, Aside from using a hammer and a wrench for a few minutes...

It will be a very happy day in your life when you get a SSQA quick attach. It sure was for me when I converted my old Kubota. I see where everything attachments is going to make a SSQA for even the BX series. Life is too short for pins and hammers. :)

LP provides a manual. You can go on line to their web site and down load them free. Get a jump and do it now so you are up to speed when yours gets there. LOL. Don't waste having that backhoe. Best decision I ever made. I have the QC for my BX FEL, another good investment. How ever you do it get those forks for the bucket, either clamp on or the QC type. Mine are on more then off sometimes.

The snow blade I looked at was frame attached and HYd lifted/lowered and an option for manual or HYD angle. The FEL has to come off and you use those HYD connections. I think you are looking at $2K for all HYD. Operator install looks easy. The blade is designed for snow and loose material, does not make it into a dozer.

Careful soon you will have as much invested in attachments as the tractor costs. BTDT

While there is nothing wrong with the above, it does neglect the difficulties created in hooking up said Box ScraPer [not ScraPPer] when you neither have a "quick hitch" or other easily adjusted attachment setup on your 3-point hitch.

I don't have any pictures, but I reinforced an appropriately-sized pallet and put it on 4 casters rated for more than the specified weight of our box blade and it made getting it off and on our tractor dramatically easier [especially before we got our Harbor Freight Quick Hitch, but even with it]. 3-Point Quick Hitch for Tractors - 27-3/16" Clearance.

Good luck and safe tractoring,
Thomas

If you buy two NEW drills, pilot and final, Ken's hooks are easy to mount. Heck, I mounted mine.

I used a cheap cordless drill and one Chinese drill bit to mount mine.
