Buying Advice Newbie tractor advice

I bought a 22 acre farm property that has rolling, mostly dry fields and currently produces hay and corn.

I have a barn and pasture areas and will be getting some farm animals as hobby farming.

Next spring I will probably take over the fields, but not sure yet what I will focus on growing.

A smaller acreage tractor will not be great in the fields and a larger farming machine will not be great around the barn.

To me an investment in TWO tractors, plus implements, for 22 total acres, less ground for farm animals, would be an extravagance. No chance of ever making the property 'pay', certainly not with hay and corn.

COASTER33: Is this a part time endeavor while you still have a paycheck coming in, or will you be retired with time but not necessarily gushing funds?

Pallets would be off flat deck or 5 ton so 5-6 feet

Is there a reason you cannot split your one ton loads into two pallets of 1,000 pounds each? You will need an outsize tractor for this singular 2000#/72" requirement. If you can split the loads into two 1,000 pound pallets you will reduce your tractor cost by half.

A tractor this large may not fit in the barn door, even with the ROPS folded. (Entry height on my little L3560, with the ROPS folded, is 86".) What is the height of your barn door?

There is a dealer close by who is full service and is interested in my business, (unlike JD), but no experience with parts. Am sure if I ask it will only be a favorable reply, so no real world knowledge.

A tractor is never going to be satisfactory for moving one ton pallets regularly, nor particularly safe. Besides the outsize tractor your 2000#/72" requires, the load will make even a big tractor tippy. Water is inherently unstable as a load. The first time a pallet of live fish slides off, how will you feel?

The Right Tool for this requirement is another rear-engine, low ground clearance, Skid Steer; not a tractor.
