I would buy a few extra grease zerks,

yup, grease anything that's made to be greased.

Excellent comments so far, and I don't have much to add EXCEPT that it may be worthwhile to run some Sea Foam through your crank case before you change the oil. 1 ounce of SF per quart of oil, run the engine for 30 minutes, drain and refill with a good quality oil.

Sea Foam has several products, Which one do you use?

The 35 series tractors were known to have fuel line problems, so you should keep an eye open for problems there.

Good luck with what should be a great tractor.

The original Sea Foam Motor Treatment is what I've always used. Good in the gas tank or the oil case.

Man you guys rock. Thanks so much. Another dumb question. I picked up the tractor today and when I got it home and tried to offload it I turned the key and nothin. Wouldn't even think about cranking over. It's possible I left the key on when I loaded it. Then a 5 hour drive home. It's also possible it needs a new battery either way. I assume the battery is just your normal run of the mill 12 volt? Correct? It was late, had somwplace to be and didn't even have time to pop the hood and investigate.

Just match it up at your battery supplier.. A lot of brands will come with an Interstate battery. Many of that size tractor are a Group 27 size wise. Interstate batteries are more expensive but most people think they are somewhat better than some other brands. Of course either test the battery yourself or have it tested before replacing. Many things can keep a tractor from cranking.. Not to mention safety switches on clutch, PTO lever, seat etc. Or even a bad key switch or broken/corroded battery cables or connections.

Red, this could be several things. I don't think I'd jump to a battery just yet. Do like koua says and first check if the PTO hasn't been engaged. Secondly, move the seat back and forth. Could be a dodgy weight sensor. Make sure everything is in neutral. If it still doesn't start, grab the direction control shift lever and pull it in toward the tractor while turning the key. If it is the battery, try jumping it first and run it awhile to charge up.

Might sound dumb...but make sure you are sitting on the seat...safety switch might not let you start it without sitting on it.

Pto off, clutch down, butt on seat before you try anything expensive or requiring anytools.

My 4035 has no seat switch but I have had a lever or two/ switch out of place while trying to start. Give it a good once over first.
