The cutting was part of the fix my dealer mentioned. I am still waiting for them to get back to me. I suggest the kudos should go to you dealer as my dealer said Kubota says out of warranty..my problem.

I did just install one of the valves over the weekend and talked to the guy that invented them. Sweet... it keeps everyone from lurching through the front when you stop. Nice change. Took about 20 min to install. Really very easy.
Like I stated in the above post#92 get in touch with Jim Carrol of kubota in grovsport OH.he makes things happen.Glad you like the coast valve.coobie

My thanks to you Coobie for hooking me up with Craig. Nice guy and shipment was fast. Very easy to install and coast great now. I almost put it in the pond the other day. So use to it slowing on its own and forgot it would not do that anymore. Funny how we all got used to it operating that way.

Well, time to close the book on the drive shaft rattle problem. We started talking about this problem with my first post back in 2005. Some may say it was a fair resolution, and others, like me, will say it was not, but better than nothing. After almost 4 years of complaining and hours of investigation on my part, it seems to be finally fixed.

So, here it is: Kubota agreed to pay for the parts to install a whole new shaft that is designed differently and which required some shop time to modify the under carriage. I had to pay for the labor, which was about $175.00. The offer is better than nothing, but not right. I still firmly believe that if you sell a product, you need to make it right. The rattle in the shaft was a design flaw that Kubota should have recalled and fixed right at no charge to the customer. Some may say it is fair, that I was out of warranty, or it only cost me $175. I don't agree. This problem existed the day I drove it off the lot, I returned it, they attempted to fix it, and I continued to complain long before it went out of warranty...and when I did get it fixed, it only had 190 hours on it.

So yes, thank you Kubota for the free parts in your attempt to make it right. The sad thing is that I am in the market for a new cab tractor, 30k to 40k I would guess. I am not color loyal and will look at all products capable of doing the job but...not Kubota. If they are not going to do right with the RTV, what would make me think my next 30k to 40k purchase instead of 10k would be any different? And what if the problem were more serious on the tractor? I have no confidence that Kubota will make it right if there is a problem. One might say it all has to do with the dealer...I say no, not in this case because the offer came from Kubota HQ, not the dealer.

My thanks to Kubota for what you did do, even though in my mind you did not get across the finish line. For all of the rest of you out there that read this, your opinions are always welcome and may serve us all to determine if Kubota did the right thing.

Since this thread was mentioned in another in discussing Kubota's failure to respond to customers, I thought I'd update everyone on my RTV1100. I picked it up on 8/10/07 and first contacted the dealer and Kubota on 8/12/07 about defective welds and a misaligned driver's side door frame. It's now been 16 months later and I've contacted Kubota and my dealer at least a dozen times about this problem. I've sent them pictures, posted pictures, called regional managers, hauled it to my dealer for Kubota regional managers to see the poor quality and I've never received one single response from Kubota on making good on their defective product.

As I mentioned earlier, I bought my last tractor from another manufacturer because of the complete and total disconnect between Kubota and their customers. After 16 months of wasted time trying to get Kubota to make good on repairing or replacing their defective product, I give up. When I have time, I'll just take the dam door frame off and cut it apart, straighten it, and weld it back together correctly. Like Slippy, I'm done with Kubota. They make a good product, but I've never experienced such poor customer support as exhibited by Kubota. Their standard M.O. is to give you the run-around for months and then just flat out ignore you. I'm not out of warranty but this is a problem that I contacted them about the 2nd day I owned the product.

Similar to the drive shaft rattle, make sure you are okay with severe rattling issues if you opt for the high air intake for an RTV. When under throttle driving down a smooth paved road you can't carry on a conversation inside the cab because the high air intake rattles so loudly that you can't hear each other. I contacted my dealer about this problem and they called Kubota. At first they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about (standard Kubota denial). Finally they admitted that it rattles like a SOB but more or less told me "tough". The dealer said that he can't take back used parts because Kubota won't reimburse him.

I feel that I've been extremely patient with Kubota and Kubota has proven to me that they have absolutely no intention of responding to customer complaints. They already lost me as a tractor customer over failing to respond to issues. Now they've lost me as a customer for any of their products. This RTV1100 will be my last Kubota product. Like Slippy, Kubota will not be a manufacturer I shop for future purchases of utility vehicles, tractors or mowers. Thanks for nothing Kubota. Other manufacturers seem happy to take my money and I've even had an opportunity to see how another manufacturer responded to a minor problem like I've had with Kubota. There's no comparison. The other manufacturer went out of their way to make sure that their customer was taken care of. I guess this post is to state that, for me, just making a quality product isn't enough for me. If you, as a manufacturer, completely ignore me and refuse to take care of any issue with your product, I'm simply not interested in purchasing anything from you in the future.

Well, there you go...I am the same way. I'm looking at tractors in the 80hp pto range and prices are in the 35k to 60k range. MF 5455, Kioti dk90, TYM 903, taking a real hard look at. Kubota, no way, you lost my business. I hope a few hundred dollars on a clear manufacturing defect was worth the lost potential sale. Again, if they are not going to back the clear defect in the drive shaft for a few hundred bucks, I'll be darn if I am willing to risk spending 40k on their tractor to find out it is worse.

Coobie, Drago...I have to say though, it might make us feel better, but do you really think anyone from Kubota is listening? I really would like to get a head count on the folks who have had a drive shaft problem on the RTV. I would write them a letter but would like to say I know of many more who have had the same problem.

I'd bet that Kioti was happy to take your money and also provide you with after the sale support; especially when under warranty.
