Next Generation Oil Filter

The pore size media testing that I've done on oil filters indicate that you could probably leave the filter on a good running engine for several oil changes. I wouldn't doubt if you could leave it on for 50k+ miles. The pore sizes in stock filters are not that fine, nominal pore size in a motorcraft filter is around 50µm. I don't think a good running engine would ever plug it, if it did you may have bigger problems.

If you want real filtration then you have to go to bypass filtration. AMSoil is one of the many good suppliers of these.

Hey Sully, take it easy on Carlglas. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Just a few years ago a guy showed me the aftermarket auxillary oil filter he had installed on his F350 diesel. He told me the filter medium was just a roll of ordinary paper towels. I can't remember what he said his preferred brand was though. He swore by it. He said that when he changed his oil at the recommended interval, it was the cleanest stuff that he had ever seen come out of any vehicle he had ever owned, gas or diesel. It may be an old idea but it's still around somewhere.
