What are the drawbacks of bypassing the cooler in the winter? Seems as though the oil will flow better and still be plenty cool? No?

I don't know what the drawbacks could be, can't see any benefit either. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If cold weather flow was an issue, it'd be easier, and less of a mess, to use either NH's cold climate fluid or a synthetic instead of disconnecting the cooler.

A previous thread on this subject had the suggestion of using multilple wire ties around the hoses to provide higher radial loading capabilities. It has to be better than electrical tape, duct tape, or any other stuff.

You might try the old-fashioned, black, sticky cloth electric tape rather than the vinyl. We used it to wrap our hockey sticks every winter.

You might even try fiberglass strapping tape. That won't stretch lengthwise at all.

I guess there is a lot of things one can do to try and stop them from leaking. My dealer charged me somewhere around $2.00 each for the hoses. From what I see my hoses actually got brittle from the heat. I just have it on my schedule to change every two years. That way you won't be out someplace with hydraulic fluid leaking all over.

I checked my TC33D and my hoses are hosed. It looks to me like I could replace them without losing any fluid except what's in the cooler itself. This guess is based on the fact that the cooler seems to be the highest point in the system. Am I wrong about this? I'm at 302 hours (I just did my 300 hour service) and I'd cry if I had to pay the $42 a 5 gallon pail (x2) for the 134 fuild that my paid at my friendly NH dealer again.

You don't lose all that much fluid. When I changed mine, I slipped a piece of cardboard behind the cooler that extended over the battery and down in front of it to keep from having a mess to clean up.

I changed my the other day and got free replacement from the dealer again at 70 hours on it. It didn't leak much fluid, about a half cup. The new hoses swell just as much as the old ones. The package was dated 2002. I hope they last longer then 65 hours. I noticed on the TC24, they went with straight rubber hoses instead of the elbow.

Does anyone have the part number for the hoses on a TC33D?

Mine blew tonight on my purchased used 1925. Glad it was in my yard, because I had walked off from the running tractor letting it warm up........ looked back to see hydrualic fluid pouring out the front.

When I took mine off, they were automotive radiator hoses. I had checked them for cracks etc. when I bought it after reading the threads here, but did not take off the clamps and read the paper underneath.....

Anyway, I will get some new hoses tomorrow, anyone have some input on replacements, or just go with NH originals and change annually or so?

Thanks, and as a side note, Jinman and Pine Ridge you guys are fantastic with the knowledge that you share.
