NH TC29DA vs. Kubota B 2910

The pallet fork is another issue. I believe the pallet fork weighs about 200#, which would leave about 600# of capacity with the B2910 and 740# with the TX29DA (after deducting the bucket weight). I don't know if the additional 140 or 150# in loader capacity is be worth the additional 700# of tractor weight.

rolando, if you want 100% of the loader capacity that the B2910 has, in a tractor that is smaller & lighter & tighter turning, yet still offers a lot of deluxe features, you might want to consider the TC24DA. The NH12LA loader is equal to the LA402 on the B2910. The TC24DA is about 15" shorter overall than the B2910, and a few inches narrower, and turns tighter so it is, in my opinion, a better mowing tractor . . . however it will power a 60" finish mower while the B2910 will power a 72" finish mower.

With some pretty rare exceptions, I find that the TC24 will do virtually everything the B2910 will do. Some things are more easily accomplished with the TC24 because its size is smaller and turning abilities are tighter. The one place where the TC24 really falls short is in the PTO hp compared to the B2910, other than that, I actually prefer using the smaller machine for many tasks, especially FEL work.

Regardless of your tractor choice, for using pallet forks, TAKE THE BUCKET OFF and use forks alone, that way you keep the weight from moving even farther forward which pretty dramatically reduces the lift capacity while simultaneously altering the balance point requiring more rear ballast.

Does NH offer a skid steer quick attach option similar to what Kubota does? Or would I need to get a 3rd party option like ATI? I've read that the ATI quick attach is a lot heavier than the Kubota. I would need something to be able to switch easily. I agree that I need to take off the bucket to maximize the load capacity of the pallet fork or the grapple if I can find something light enough.

I had wondered about the 24, but of course not being able to get any size information from the NH site, I didn't pursue it. I'll go by the NH dealer and see if he has one in stock. I don't think the PTO hp is a big factor because grass cutting is my only need. What about the hydraulic pump capacity of the 24? It's 4.9 gpm verses the B2910 at 9.5.

I use both, I don't see any real difference in the hydraulics in real useage. But I wonder about hydraulic capacities as they are listed on several sites, it seems like some use 2 pumps and post the combined flow, some use one, etc. I just don't know if it is apples to apples in the comparison.

As I don't use pallet forks, you'd probably need to talk to a dealer, or perhaps Neil Messick could help with that answer.

I use the TC24 with a MMM for mowing and it does a great job, it is not as good as my Ventrac (but that is the BEST mowing machine I've ever seen), but it is much better than my Cub Cadet. Even in areas with heavy Dutch clover the engine never bogs down, I've clogged the deck a few times with wet clover, but the engine keeps running strong.

Those numbers on hydraulic flow look about right. The only time it will really come into play is if you add a backhoe. The 2910 can do it without an expensive and ackward PTO pump where with the TC24 its a necessity.

You have to be careful with QA frames as they are not all universal mount. The ATI will interchange with any universal mount attachment - and its expensive. Kubota and New Holland use smaller QA frames for their smaller tractors that will not fit any old set of pallet forks. QA for the L-Series is universal mount and will work fine.

I agree with Bob, don't mess with bolt on pallet forks.

I really think you should be into an L3130, especialy once you start messing with adding forks and aftermarket frames the cost difference of getting the larger tractor and doing it right is going to get smaller and smaller.

I beleive NH splits the Hydrualic pump from the Steering hydraulic pump. Not sure how Kubota states it. In my TC24d manual it states 4.9 gpm as pump capacity, and in the shop manual it states 2.75 for the Steering Hydraulic pump capacity.

I am running the NH 756c off the tractor hydraulics and it does quite well. No need for a pto pump.

I found a website that has downloadable versions of the brochures for the NH tractors. You should have a look at them. They may help.

New Holland brochures

I don't remember, will you be using a MMM or RFM? I was looking at a Deere brochure a while ago, that I have and it says the 4115 can use a 72" RFM. The 4115 is 24hp. If that can use a 72" RFM I don't see why TC24 or DX24 can't.

Neil,
I always liked the feature set of the L3130, and there is no significant cost difference to the B2910. But what about the weight in mowing? The B2910 is half the weight, although I could get the oversize turfs for the L3130. Wouldn't the L3130 be overkill for a 5 acre parcel in the long run?

I don't see how that 2910 loader height spec can be correct. My 2710 loader goes to right at 8 feet. I know because I use it to put stuff on top of a loft in my shop that is 9' or so high and its only a few inches too short.

Height to the bottom of the L402 loader arms when raised is 83.9".
Are you including the bucket as part of the height? It is above the loader arms when rolled back.
