NH vs BX vs JD vs MF Quotes

A few comments on your comparison between the NH and MF.

1. I did not get the auto FWD option on mine, and don't think I'd like it - I like being able to control when my tractor is in FWD or not, rather than a computer doing it. I don't think there's a manual override on that system.

2. I don't know of an operator adjustable safety seat switch on my machine, and was not made aware of it on the '04's. Is it a new feature on the '05's?

3. As a novice to hydro tractor trannies when I bought my machine, I hated the Kubota treadle pedal, and really liked the twin pedal setup on my machine. After using my Case DX24E (twin to the NH TZ24DA) and the Kubota BX22 side by side, I now wish I had the treddle pedal - once you become familiar with your machine, the treddle pedal becomes much more efficient in nearly every situation I've encountered. That's probably why the larger compact NH and Case machines go back to a treddle pedal setup.

4. ( When mowing large areas, the operator will likely experience discomfort without the convenience of cruise control. This discomfort may be exacerbated by the single-pedal treadle. )
Holding the pedal in position for extended travel distances such as mowing large areas or driving the machine across the property is exactly why I am now cursing my twin pedal setup, and wishing I had the treddle pedal, like the Kubota that I use has. The treddle pedal causes much less fatigue in your foot, and calf muscles.

5. 6" and 5.9" (nearly identical) under the mower deck is not enough clearance on either machine to justify leaving the mower on while doing dirtwork in my experience - the mower deck gets too beat up and banged around in those situations to leave it on the machine.

6. With an FEL, no machine has the advantage as far as front headlights are concerned - even with the 4 light system, I've had to add ROPS lighting so I could see beyond the FEL - sure, the FEL is lit up nice and bright, but nothing out front is lit up very well. For mowing without the FEL on, then the 4 light system is a very nice feature.

I still think the Case/NH is a better machine, but I wanted to point out my observations as a Case Subcompact owner.

Which ones did you test drive.. prices & options aside.. even cruising around the dealership lot can help you decide.

For novice operators, I still think the auto MFD is a good option since most wives and kids don't know when they need MFD. Think of it like your sports utility vehicle that has the automatic mode.

On the Safety shut off switch, under your seat is an adjustable jam nut for adjusting the switch for the weight of the operators, so if junior weighs 50lbs, you can adjust the switch so that the unit does shut off.

For your large mowing areas and the two pedal configuration - I would highly recommend the electronic cruise control which your dealer can add as an option. For the most part, I think the majority of operators prefer the two pedals.

I still feel the NH or CIH machine is the way to go!!

I really like my Massey 2310 TLB - and it does have a cup holder. Your buying a "tractor" not a car. Things like cruise and auto 4wd are for luxury cars. I looked at NH and didn't care for price or the quality.

Depending upon what tasks you have to complete, this is not true.

Mike,

I have to agree with you. I love my cruise control, I love my auto 4 WD and I love the quality of my tractor. And I don't care for color bashing /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif of which my last comment is not directed at you Mike.

JT1972,

Any facts to back up this statement?
