Well I procrastinated about this camera thing long enough, actually too long. I have several tractor projects that I need a reliable digital camera for good pictures and since my older Nikon now only works when it feels like it, I made the final decision today.
I just ordered the following camera from New York: Nikon 8700 with a Hitachi 1GB microdrive. This way I figure if I take the camera with me on vacation I shouldn't run out of storage space for digital images. The 1 GB card will hold 256 of the highest resolution images that the 8700 camera can produce or 5,224 lower resolution images for web use or email.
Other goodies that I got for the camera were: Nikon CompactFlash card reader, Nikon AC adapter, Nikon carrying case, Nikon CompactFlash card storage wallet, Nikon lens cleaning cloth, Spare EN-EL1 battery, and a tabletop tripod. I already own a full size tripod with 2-light sources and 2-umbrellas so I think I'm set to go.
Guess you can see that I'm a big fan of Nikon. Thanks again for all the tips and tricks guys, I really appreciate it.
