I have an almost new L4740 with about 10 hours. I also have a 55 year old Ferguson TO30. I've noticed that the 4740's throttle doesn't seem to have an RPM governor like the TO30 does, and I'm wondering why.
When the going gets tough for the TO30, the throttle cranks up automatically in an attempt to hold the same RPM. The 4740 just "gives up" -- the engine RPM's drop and it's not too hard to stall.
Is there a way to make the 4740 behave like the TO30? Or is this just the way things are with the newer tractors?
Thanks,
Jeff
