No Insurance ... Vehicle impounded

1*because it's not working as the un insureds are still out there.
Compulsory insurance is more a part of the problem than a solution.
2* Reason one:
It It forces one to pay for coverage in cases where it's not need and won't be used.
Reason 2:
Surrendering the plates causes one to pay for plates never used.
It also increase plate sales.
Another point all the money for fines impound fees and tow bills goes to towing companies impound lots and the courts while you the victim gets not a cent.
How does that benefit you?

1. Since somebody doesn't follow the law we should throw out the law????
2. Insurance is supposed to cover catstrophes, and it does - how does that mean it's not used?
3. The towing fees and bills go to the company that is providing the service - keeping dangerous and unsafe drivers off the road. The insurance companties pay for the care of the victims of the idiots that don't follow the rules - that how it benefits you.

Isn't it wonderful how the compulsory auto insurance laws are putting more and more insured drivers on the road.

Yes, it is.

DOn't know too many other bussiness that can hold your property ransom until you pay the bill.

How about trying to get your car out of the mechanic's shop, your computer out of the computer repair shop, your vacuum out of the vacuum repair shop without paying?

I could go on, but it would be redundant, repetative and repititious.

You just hit on the tip of the flaw with compulsory insurance.

Prices for insurance are regulated by many states, and are also regulated by free market comptetition.

I have friends in the towing business that are reputable, but some of the towing done in the larger metropolitian area sure looks like a fee racket.

If you have someone here illegally, driving without a license and driving without insurance, the effective way to get them off the street is to impound the car. Lot's of luck getting them to show up for court, pay fines and be good citizens. They'll probably turn around and buy another junker somewhere and do it again unless they get personally locked up and deported.

1*The down side last year the towing companies got into an agreement give the officers a percentage of each tow for an abandoned vehicle, or one in the road.
2* Even got the surveyors truck that was parked in my lower lots drive way 70 feet off the road. .
1*Deals like this are nothing but revenue enhancers.
What gave them the rite or authority to tow his truck parked off the road right away on your private property.?

I have had both situations,
1*one vehicle towed to a lot after an accident, 2 sons going to the hospital--I think the fee was $75/day for "storage".
2* Also had one towed to our place, later hauled away and someone actually paid a little cash for it. 3*Guess which one makes more sense?
3*That's a tough one

1*Where did I say that?
What I said is mandatory insurance isn't working.
Why shouldn't something that don't work either be fixed or thrown out?
2*It's not used if you are forced to buy it for a car that's never taken out on the road this is one of the flaws of compulsory insurance.
How would me having insurance on a vehicle I'm not driving protect you from me?
3*How is it keeping dangerous and unsafe drivers off the road he had to be on the road or they couldn't have nailed him.
Towing fining him and impounding his car after he has already crashed into me is a little to late isn't it.?Also how does taking hundreds of dollars from him and giving it to the wrecker cos impound lots and the courts pay for the damage to me.?
4*Insurance commissioners are mainly a figurehead controlled or heavily influenced by insurers.
