True, this world is driven by economics, but it's not the same world today.......everything, including economics is driven by greedy, crooked individuals and organized, powerful groups of people who go to work every day with the duty of screwing people for power, money and control. Does the normal person really think that world oil prices are only affected by foreigners and economics??? If they do, oh boy, there are some really naieve sheltered people in this world. The ethics and business morals of society today is disgusting!!! The sick thing is these people go to church on Sunday and screw people on Monday.......and the sickest thing......they don't even think they are wrong!!!! All the crooked dealings, kickbacks, squeezing out honest principles and the people that apply them........it's not just the big Corporations anymore.......these business policies have trickled down to even alot of your local business people.

We had an "energy crisis" 35 years ago........wind generation started, solar, some invested.........they all lost.....where did the crisis go??? The oil boom of the 80's??? Everybody got rich overnight. My dad said..."seen this before, they'll go broke just as fast as they got rich....and the oil towns will be a ghost town tomorrow"..... Well I be dang....he was right....it happened. Maybe it won't this time, maybe it will, but the relevant issue at hand that affects us ALL........If fuel keeps this up, I PROMISE you it will change our lives as we have known it.......and drastically!!! Hide and watch!!! It affects everything we touch and do. Small business will tumble, jobs as we know them will be gone.....the Corporate world will rule and probably not to most of our liking. Yes, it WILL BE PURE ECONOMICS!!!!

Global warming.... I wish. Look outside today. March 8th, and I have over 20" of new snow. Dropping to single digits tonight, and another snow storm coming through tomorrow night. Coldest and longest winter in a loooong time. We are closing in on the end of winter and the fuel produced on speculation of the (predicted) warm winter is gone. Refineries are running 24/7 trying to keep up with heating oil demands and that kills the diesel prices. So more manufacturers move to propane for daily use, and that kills the propane prices. This all cuts into the production of gasoline with it's own peak demands. On the bright side, I'm a trapper and fur prices are the highest they've been in 30 years. Hard winter all around the world, which is spiking the demand for furs. The last time we had these fur prices was back in the 70's. Ha, the 70's, I wonder what happened to fuel prices back then?

.....Once we get moved, I am planning to build an old CJ5 jeep with a 4BT Cummins diesel in it. Its been done before by many and gets in the upper 30's for milage. ....

That sounds like an awesome vehicle. I was getting all giddy when I saw Jeep put a diesel in the Liberty last year. Hopefully, they'll start putting that in Wranglers soon as well. But, I was a bit bummed when I saw that the dieseld Liberties only get 29 mpg on the Highway.

Don't look for price of diesel go down any time soon. As long as the oil company can sell in Europe for $7.00 or better a gallon. For most, the fuel prices here in the US are driven by lack of competition. Chevron should never be allowed to merge with Mobil. Two biggest oil monopolies in the world, merged and controlling prices, consumer have no choice but to pay premium price. Remember "MaBell", after their breakup, prices for their service went down and the telephone industry flurished...
