I was listening to a talk show this afternoon talking about the survival of professional sports, particularly hockey. Out here in California we hardly even know what hockey is much less the rules and how it's played. Professional sports in general is perhaps finally getting the reality check it needs. Lots of hype and less easily hyped people. I think basketball may be next, football and whats that other sport where everyone stands around while the other team sits? Hockey just never really caught on out West. I gather it's the dominant professional sport in Canada. Perhaps we will settle for college hockey and then maybe some Olympic hockey, but that's OK by me.
