No NHL --- Does anyone care?

I guest one would not care if your favorite sport is tennis,crokay, bowling,or no sports at all, or maybe the back of a bengay tube is more interesting then the NHL, gentlemen please don't be insulted. You have to enjoy intense competition, hits, fights, on a ice surface that is close whit board's their is no escape. I care and I miss it ... cag

If it's any consolation cag, I care for those that are affected and really enjoy the sport. It will be back and hopefully stronger and wiser. I think all professional sports will be going through it. Baseball, Yankees, big market vs little market. Anybody see interest wane when a sport can become so lopsided that fans give up hope and loose all interest. I do.

When hockey is your national sport and the whole season is cancelled it takes a bit of wind out of the sails. But...I have to admit that I'm glad the owner stuck to their guns. I would have been more upset if they would have caved and we had 1/2 a season.

Spoiled brats arguing with other spoiled brats over who should get more of the $$ from the working families trying to enjoy time with their families. Sad, really.

And that's the exact reason why I don't watch any pro sports and very little college sports anymore. There is way too much emphasis on "ME", and not enough on "TEAMWORK". And that attitude has spilled over into college and even high school sports. There are a few college coaches that try to buck the trend, like Ohio State football, and Duke basketball, but even in their programs there are always a few spoiled brats that think the world revolves around them.

Thr problem with all professional sports is not the players or the owners, it's US, the suckers who pay for the overpriced tickets and watch it on TV. The players and the owners are just argueing over how the pot is divided up and who can blame them. If it doesn't go to the players, it goes to the owners and vice versa. It's we, the paying spectator, who puts the money in the pot. We are in control and we don't even realize it. If we don't watch it, either live or on TV, the big money will disappear and sports will return to some form of reality where the game is the important thing. Until then, you pays your money (or not) and makes your choice.

Oh!!!!, in answer to your original question ... put me in the NOPE column.

I agree in almost all cases. We have the CFL here in Canada which is very entertaining football as far as I'm concerned. The average salary for the players is about $50K CDN, so most of them have off-season jobs. Ticket prices are reasonable and the games enjoyable. The only rip off --> the concession prices /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
