No oil pressure in 224 (under 5 hrs.)

I agree with the 'replace the pump and go'. By you being the inporter, you saved some $$. I'd order the pump from Afordable and get my tractor running. At the same time I'd request a replacement from the factory. You will have a spare in 4 months. I'd bet you would never get a replacement engine, you might get a box of parts to rebuild

It is a real bumer you got the 1 of 1000 bad units. I have had a few issues with my tractor, but my dealer jumped on them.

Jinmaman, you are way under-estimating yourself!. My hat's off to you for your mechanical talents, diagnostic acumen and sheer dogged persistence on this unfortunate issue.

I came across your thread quite by chance, and I had to go back to Nov and read the entire thing. Fingers crossed that the new pump and a flush will do the trick for you. Please keep us posted.

We are getting frustrated with the tractor. Therefore, I think we will just change the oil pump and hope for the best. Now I need to get the oil pump.

Just a suggestion, but while you are waiting for the new oil pump, I believe that I would take the valve cover off and check and/or adjust the valve lash. Just as an added precation. The little engine will need all the help that you can give it now, to keep going a long time. If you think that the engine may have gotten hot, then I would also check the torque on the headbolts, while you are in there.

I know that a lot of folks, don't like to do this, but since I had a head gasket to start leaking after my first Chinese Tractor(Shenniu), engine got hot,,, I've always put the recommended amount of "Bars Leak", in the cooling system as a preventative, for a coolant leak at the head gasket or other areas, where coolant may want to find an escape. Bars Leak, is also supposed to have some lubricating qualities for the water pump as well. Just make sure that you follow the directions to the letter. So far, my cooling system is tight, with no leaks. To tell you the truth, I don't like to put additives in either, but when I find something that works, then I try to stay with it, as added insurance.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope that your Jinma will be ok.

Well, the parts are on their way. Thanks to Tommy I may have this beast running soon. Just waiting for the parts and will get them in a soon as they arrive.
Will update everyone when things are together.

UPDATE

Well it has been very interesting. IT seems like the oil pump used on the 224 is different than the other engines. Tommy was surprised the unit I got from him was not a direct bolt on. So this is where the back yard guy comes out in me. What needed to be done is a mix and match of parts from the new and old pump. The cracked top on the original pump was cut off and a new top bushing was machined that replaced the part removed and acted as the bushing (Thanks to my machinist friend André for this). Next the inner shaft and impeller from the new pump needed to be cut down as it was to long and a new retaining pin hole was drilled.
With this done, the pump could be assembled. The end result was a pump that looked and felt much better that the factory unit. After assembly it was put back in the engine with the gears sliding smoothly together. The time consumer was getting the pump to block retaining bolt started which took nearly 2 hours of playing.
After the pump was in and the remaining parts attached then the engine was filled with oil.
The drum roll began when I turned the engine over with compression release on and..... the oil pressure gauge began to rise. Success!!!

I have run the engine for almost one hour with no issues. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Good thing you had the ability to customize parts. i'd hate to think about having to custom build parts to fix a new or almost new tractor... Keep us posted on how she does.
