Here in West Tn. I planted my food plots (clover and oats) had 2 days of rain and all came up about 1.5 inches tall. Now its not rained in 4-5 weeks. It is all dying off.

#1 Question is do I need to re-disk and plant again or can I just over seed dirt is still vey dry and like powder
#2 Will the clover and oats come back- they are light green and welted
#3 what kinda rain dance can I do:confused2:

Wouldnt mind some late season seat time on the new L3240:thumbsup: but really want to do whats best for my plots. I have never planted and then have a drought like this in the 9 years I have planted these plots

No rain in 4-5 weeks? Where I live, we haven't had any measurable rain since June! The National Weather Service says my area is officially in a "severe drought". The smell of rotted fish seems to be all around since ponds less than about 5' deep have all dried up leaving hundreds of fish to rot in the sun. I've been hauling 5 gallon buckets of water to 10 Oak trees I planted lining my driveway last year. Apparently 10 gallons a week isn't enough since the ground around them is at 8% moisture content.

Generally young plants do not fare well to having no water. I'm certainly no expert though. Maybe someone else can tell you. I'm hoping we get rain before November! Our 2 week forecast (however accurate that may be) doesn't call for any chance for rain. :(

How soon before you want those plots to work? In other words, when is deer season??

I am a farmer, not a big time deer hunter, but it seems to me you want the deer in there NOW. If you replant, will you have time to attract them?

Some years just don't cooperate weather wise.

I am in North MS and that 1.5" of rain you got passed us by. We got a little bit of a shower a week ago but not enough to do any good.

The rain a few weeks ago pasted us up also --- looking at the radar it jump right over our farm. We are also not expected any rain on our 10 day forecast. I guess a better question is if I want to salvage November what should I do between now and the next rain? We had .006 of rain in September Any help would be appreciated.

If no rain is in the immediate forecast, your present planting will indeed wilt away and not produce an attraction, which is your goal, right?

If you re-seed, and no rain is in the forecast, then you have seeded twice with still no attractive crop to offer the deer.

Frustrating and disappointing, but there is little you can do without irrigation to compensate for Mother Nature's failure to help you. It is my understanding, and please correct any misconception i have, that deer need to establish a pattern of feeding there, knowing they will find food there. That needs to happen now, in October.

Best you can do is pray, I guess.:)

Just wait awhile and the weather will change:D

It has been 20 plus year record here in southern w.v. for heat and lack of rain this summer,,we went probably 3-4 months with maybe 1 inch of rain[maybe] and 30-50 90 degree days, several 100 degree days,my garden actually [we've heard about it,but],dried up and blew away,,,now its,50 degrees and moist.,,last winter we had record snow,,,,[wonder what will happen next?]

Well I guess I will wait and re-seed as soon as we get rain in the forecast:confused: Right now I see no reason to re-disk or put any seed out. Just feeding the birds if I do:mad:
