BELIEVE THIS…
Upon searching a number of web sites for a power collection unit of grass clippings and fall leaves in conjunction with my tractor I came across the Cyclone Rake Company www.cyclonerake.com. As I viewed their site I noticed a swivel wheel and tire as a listed part, which appeared to be just the right fit for a fabrication of a vegetable pull along wagon for my tractor. I called the Company and described the part that I wanted to the lady at Customer Service (1-888-531-7253). She asked if I had purchased a Cyclone Rake Unit from the Company. I informed her that I had not but was just looking to buy a part. She told me that because I had not purchased a unit from them that I could not buy any parts. I seriously thought she was joking, however, I soon learned that she was not. She said that it was company policy. I call again and got a fellow and again, I could not buy a part because I had not purchased a Cyclone Rake from them. What is this? Is this the coming thing?

What would this world be like if you couldn’t buy a part for an instrument, appliance, car, boat, tractor, you name it, unless you had purchased it yourself through the dealer. Parts are usually the largest profit of a business.

If you think I’d purchase a Cyclone Rake… I’ll make it clear, I WOULD NOT.
Upon looking at a Cyclone Rake on eBay, #7755888643, Shortened Long URL and viewing the damage it incurred in a couple of seasons I’m more convinced that I WOULD NOT purchase a Cyclone Rake.

This is not uncommon. I have seen this with many high end products. It is done to protect their product line. Often they will ask you for a valid serial number.

I had this happen with Sears once. I went to the floor, found the owners manual of the machine I wanted a part off of, and then went back to the service counter with that information. Worked great.
Wonder what they think they are in business for? Parts is parts. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yep, I've known of other companies doing the same thing.

You mean if I found one at a yard sale - that I could not get parts?
That's just foolishness. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I agree, sounds pretty stupid not to sell as many parts as they can for whatever. I have never heard of anything like that before.

It is apparent that none of y'all have ever purchased parts from a Peterbilt, KW, Freighliner..etc dealer.
You have to have the last six digits of the vin # to get anything and if you want something that was not spect with the truck you have to find a vin # that was spect with it.

I had a similiar situation, I bought a Kirby. It worked fine. Mostly all steel. But the inpeller flew to pieces. I called a, and the part was covered under warranty, but I would have to pay labor. $75. (1988).
They wanted a bill of sale in order to do it as well. I set it aside and went with my $45 dollar K-mart one. I figured with this type of track record, they would go out of business. They continued to hound me for references for new customers.
After about 5 or 6 months the store started to look a bit dark, so I went in, and the person there locked the door behind me. They said they were from the bank and were packing things away. So I told the guy that all I wanted was the inpeller. He showed me to the pile of parts. I ended up with three complete vacs, and a pile of parts , for $30.
I repaired two and had parts to boot. Oh yes, and finally got a metal inpeller.
Many of these higher end appliances like my kitchen beater, have gone to at leaste a couple of gears of plastic. I think this is so they will break, and need the repair.
Much like Wal -Mart, these companys are looking short term. They dont consider customer satisfaction.
Imagine if Auto zone required a sworn statement and notarized every time you want brake shoes.
Guess Im just too dam picky...

If you still want the swivell wheels for your project, try Tractor Supply Co or Nothern Tools or Harbor Freight. All of them have this part.
