I recently bought a 2006 Ag King 3540. When I tested it, the gauges worked and the idiot lights lit up when I turned the key to the on position, and the motor started right up when I turned the key further to the start position (and depressed the clutch).
When I got it home, the gauges worked, then they didn't, then they did. Then they stopped working all together, except the ammeter.
I replace the ignition switch (the original owner had broken off the key in it).
That did not fix the gauges, but sometimes I would have an oil pressure lite.
Then yesterday, after starting and stopping it 4 or 5 times, I forgot to turn off the switch. I tried starting it (depressing the clutch every time) - nothing.
No lites, no gauges, no starter. No hum, no click, nothing.
Cleaned the battery contact, charged the battery, checked the fuses. Still no response.
I jumped the tractor off my big V8 Jeep. Got an oil lite. The directionals worked. Turned it off, then on, Nothing. No lites, no starter.
What am I missing? Relay, solenoid, fortune cookie?
My mechanic told me there was a circuit board under the dash. Could that be flaky? Would that prevent the starter from engaging?
