No Rotella T6

I ordered Amsoil online last Tuesday and I got everything I ordered, right to my door in less than 48 hours. Oil for my Harley and diesel oil for my tractor. So if you’re having difficulty finding your usual synthetic oil, ordering Amsoil is an option…

What did you pay per gallon for your tractor oil?

I’m in Canada so my price wouldn’t be a good comparison for you. I guess their Heavy Duty line is very popular...
Preferred customer Membership is $20 a year in the US? It's different here in Canada so you'll need to check the website.
Here's a link for all their Diesel Oils. Click on the oil that you’re interested in, then click on Technical info and then open the Data bulletin. Tons of useful info… https://www.amsoil.com/c/diesel-engine-oil/5/?zo=331384

I just grabbed the last 2.5 gallon jug of T6 5W-40 at tractor Supply on Friday for $52.99. It was the first T6 I have seen in months of watching every store I go in. I'm 2 quarts shy of a 6.7L Cummins oil change now, but at least I have something. I can patch in the 2 quarts with something else if needed. My truck has 1700 miles on it, so I have time to keep watching.

Rotella does sell a synthetic blend oil, which I assume is a mix of T6 and T4. If I needed to change oil, I would just mix in 2 quarts of T4. In fact I did this once on my 5.9 Cummins: 3 gallons T6 and one gallon T4 when the store only had 2 gallons of T6.

10W30 Amsoil diesel oil
$53.00 2.5 gal X 4 + $213.00 for 10 gal T6

Amsoil 1 gal $54.09 X 10 + $540/90 10 gal
1 gal 5W40 $13.59 X 40 + $543.60

Perferred $41.39 X 10 +$413.90 for 10 gal
1 gal 5W40 $10.29 X 40 + $411.60

It looks like Amsoil is $200 more and then what
is the price of being a member add that also.
Amsoil might be good but not when it costs almost
twice as much as T6

Castrol oil we used in our little car put 60,000
miles on it. I forgot to get oil but had some
Pennzoil and put that in and car got broke in
2000 miles of Pennzoil gained 3 miles per gal
went back to Castrol and mileage stayed the same.

Willy, I just read the linked article above. Seems to me to have been written by a 10 year old. For example they state
  • Reduce fuel consumption by up to 76%.
I like Amsoil and use it in pretty much everything, but that statement is probably not ever mentioned by Amsoil. It’s just not true. Maybe 3-5%?? Also the article compares the T6 5/15W40 to Amsoil Signature 5W30. Can’t compare T6 Diesel oil to Amsoil Sig 5W30 gas engine oil. Amsoil has had many articles in the past about diesel oil changes that were extended beyond OEM recommendations. Several in excess of 500000 miles. But in all those articles UOA was used to extend the interval safely. Show me something similar with T6!? Take that article you provided with a truckload of salt…😬

Willy, you need to compare the cost of T6 to the Amsoil Heavy Duty line which is in the same class. I think You’re comparing the Signature Series which, amongst other characteristics, is a long-life oil. Up to 3X or longer with UOA…

I would like to run SS in my BX, but it does not carry the API certifications or whatever that Kubota states is a minimum requirement. I have been slightly concerned of there were ever an engine issue and my oil doesn't meet their stated requirements (on paper) I might be in hot water. I am curious if Kubota tends to be a stickler for stuff like that.

What are the specs required in the BX. If the Amsoil SS doesn’t cover it maybe the Amsoil HD line does?
