Noise level of a Kioti diesel?

I am the proud second owner of a 2003 Cummins. I must say it is nice to have my phone on the dash in it's cradle hands free and be able to hear the person on the other end at hwy speed. My 94 powerstroke made it difficult to hear someone in the backseat. I love the new super quiet cummins. Off base here, but wanterd my two cents in. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

TF116, please don't misunderstand what I am saying. I bought a 1995 Kioti that had "0" maintenance done on the engine and because of this it had worn prematurely. The tractor is amazing strong, reliable and ruggedly constructed. I decided to rebuild the engine completely because of the wear on the cylinder sleeves was excessive. After checking into it and finding that Kioti parts were inexpensive and having the time over the winter, I did the whole engine. This was not the manufacturers or the tractors fault. It was the previous owners doings due to poor upkeep. Looks like he never changed a filter. As to the noise of the engine I am refering to the volume of noise that is common to all deisel engines and not to Kioti's only. I will, when financially feasable, probably get a CK30HST somewhere in the future. Of course if I can justify a larger tractor I will. But I am in no way trying to disparage Kioti tractors or my own.

BBSE...was just wondering about the hours and use of the engine that you rebuilt.....don't know much about Kioti Tractors (well actually very, very little).....still looking at a DK55..
I've had diesal tractors for several years and also worked on them in Vietnam in 69-70 on Patrol Boats.....and I have drove a little around dealers lot on a dk55 never noticed the noise...the mf1085 that I got shedd of.....was one noisey engine.
Do like the perkins engines though, never had any problems out of engines themselves.... thanks for clearing up my question, would of done the same.....Mike

BTW, my 3054 had 518 hours showing on the meter. I had several experienced deisel mechanic friends look at the engine and they all said the same thing. The wear pattern on the cylinders were worse from the back cylinder to the front. They all thought it was from the stopped up, dirty air filter sucking fine grit through the engine. Everything was just polished down. Cannot blame this on anyone but the prior owners. As to the DK55, I am totally unfamiliar with the engine in that unit. I am not suprised if it is quieter as it is a newer design.

Please forgive my repeating this story, but my dealer had an early 90s model 3054 in for repairs. The hour meter stated 1000 hours, but the owner admitted that it had stopped years before and he could only guess that it had thousands of hours.

The owner also stated that he had never changed the oil, only added more when needed. I think filters were also not changed.

With just a little work, some new oil and filters, valve adjustment etc. That tractor was soon singing a beautiful tune again, and the owner was most happy that he didn't need to buy another tractor after all.

The Daedong engines can really take some abuse, and keep on ticking. That bunny with the drum has nothing on Kioti.
