Has anyone been looking up at the night sky the past two days. What a sight. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I've been watching every night for the last week and haven't seen a thing. One of the advantages of "life after 50" is that you don't have to set an alarm to get up in the middle of the night. This Northern Lights thing just adds a little excitement to the ritualistic 2:00am trip to the bathroom. So....I have been able to keep a good eye on the northern sky and haven't seen them yet and the sky has been pretty clear. I've seen them from here before, so I'm a little disappointed. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep looking to the right as I take my nightly walk to the the "reading room".

A great show tonite at about 8 pm..........very red & visable........so bright you would think it's a reflection from a sports stadium..........but there isn't any light source of that type for 70 miles from my place........Living in the country is awesome...........Real darkness !!

I have only seen the northern lights once and that was about 13 years ago. I was hoping to catch them again, but no luck. There are some narrow curving white bands but they aren't very bright. Not sure about them. Living is the south probably isn't the best for seeing northern lights.

Ok....Finally saw them last night. However it was just a very brilliant sky to the north around 10:30. No shooting lights and changing colors like I've seen before. There was nothing after midnight.

We had a haunted trail last night for my daughters 6th grade classmates from 6-7pm. The lights were very bright and constantly changing. Very bright red sometimes. Added to the spookiness.

They were awesome and the talk of all of the parents.

Seem to be earlier in the evening than I had seen previously.

I saw them on Thursday night. It was absolutely amazing. The whole northern sky was lit up. It looked like a giant shield that went from the horizon (about 45° on either side of north) to a point that stopped directly overhead. The side on the east was bright red and the further west you looked the lighter it became....the western edge looked bright white. I wish I got some pictures.
