There is a right way to do something and an easy way. Usually they are not the same. In this instance, I believe they are. I don't mean to be critical, but have you considered planting hedges/trees between the nosy neighbor and yourself? or possibly privacy fence? You could use machinery for either An auger is a useful tool, and a mini track-hoe is a lot of fun.

though i love using the equipment!

the biggest reason is that i dug a pond last year, dumping a LOT of the clay on the neighbor's lot --

-- it's 600' from his house, and he can't see it, but eventually i will have to clean it up --

i am not looking at building a wall, per se, just breaking up the lots with a little landscaping --
