Although I've not had any major issues with my RTV1100, I do have to admit that I have to give Kubota an "F" on customer response. The first issue I had was that the tailgate on my RTV1100 was being supported by only 1 of the two cables that hold the tailgate. After contacting Kubota numerous times and not receiving any sort of reply, I decided to look into what was causing the problem. It didn't take long to discover that the holes in the bottom of the bed where the tailgate hinge is inserted were mis-located by the factory. One was closer to the rear of the RTV than the other. This caused the tailgate to be supported by only one of the two cables. The first two pictures are of where I measured digitally the distance from the holes to the end of the bed. As you can see, one measured .276" and the other measured .362" to the rear of the bed. I tagged the last picture in the list here to show how the tailgate was only being supported by one cable. I thought maybe I wasn't describing it properly without a picture showing what I was talking about.
How this passed any quality control, I'll never know. Even worse, once the tailgate was installed, one of the cables simply hanged slack while the other side supported the tailgate. After constantly trying to get Kubota to contact me for nearly two months, I fixed the problem myself by slotting one hole to measure the same distance as the other hole. After doing that, the tailgate then was supported by both cables and the gap between the tailgate and the bed (when the tailgate is down) was even where it was not even before. Until this thread, I'd forgotten about having to fix that problem myself. I guess you can now officially say that Kubota has failed to respond to me for over six months now on that issue!
The other issue is a pathetic weld on the driver's side door frame that will fail due to the weld being extremely poor. Again, I have to question if Kubota has any quality control at all. This weld should have NEVER made it out the door. I can teach my 8 year old to weld better than this in less than 1/2 of an hour. The next picture is of this factory weld on the door frame. Without any doubt, with much vibration or simply opening and closing the door a few times, this door frame will break due to the faulty weld. I only have 27 hours on my RTV1100. In six months of calling and writing Kubota, not one time has anyone bothered to call me nor look at my unit. Again, I have to give Kubota customer support a huge "F" in taking care of their customers.
I suppose it's a good thing that I have not had any other issues with the RTV1100. Based on the response I've experienced from Kubota, I'd be flat out of luck. This is really too bad because I really do like the RTV1100 quite a bit. It drives, handles and operates far better than the JD and Polaris units I tested before I purchased it. Add the factory cab with A/C and heat; it wasn't much of a decision for me. However, I now have to wonder since Kubota seems to have no desire to take care of their customers after the sale.
Sorry, but I tell it like it is. I really like the RTV1100, but I also own products from other manufacturers. Kubota lost a sale of a new M9540 to John Deere when they failed to respond to some of my questions and concerns. John Deere was extremely prompt at getting back with me not only via email, but by phone and in person. I like the guys at my local Kubota dealership, but when the factory doesn't support them, I spent my money on my last tractor with John Deere. I've had one issue with that John Deere since I bought it, and JD service was all over the issue. They went beyond the call of duty to take care of me. So far, Kubota has completely ignored me....even after six months of trying to get their attention.
