A great many people have miserable and difficult lives. Littering often isn't a great big concern of theirs.

The farmers here always left plastic fertilizer sacks on the fence lines along with all types of fluid bottles. I'm sure, many never made a trip to the dump, except maybe to fetch stuff.

It's all about belief systems.

We have had the same problem with contractors working on a neighbors house. I don't begrudge going to the bathroom but at least bury the paper. Having said that, the paper does eventually go away. One contractor did not use paper but an old T Shirt. I took said T shirt and put it on his trailer.

The wife's family rents out their old farm land, and on our last visit, after the fall harvest, I was walking the land and the woods where full of used piles of TP. I could not walk into the woods in some places because of the human land mines. :thumbdown: The farmer does bring out Porta Johns but the workers were not using them at all. Not sure how clean the Porta Johns where but I can't imagine they were that bad given there were not that many people working.

I worked on a power line project where if you didn't use the porta potties provided it was grounds for automatic termination. Apparently on a project in nearby NH they used the bushes so much that it polluted the nearby public water source.

If the farm is a part of the GAP or HACCP program, a worker taking a leak in a field would be an automatic fail for their inspection...

I have been very fortunate. We bought our acreage 10 years before we retired. Neighbors kept an eye on it to keep people from dumping on it. Over the years we have had people dump stuff along the county road. I call the county and they send someone out to pick it up.

I replaced my woodfired boiler a couple years ago. There is a man in our town that will pick up scrap metal for free. I felt kind of guilty. It was about 1,000 lbs and he had to cut it in half so we could load it. The guilt was, if he would have said "That's too much for me I'll have to charge you $100" My response would have been "Do you want cash or check". It would have been worth it to me. I had no way to cut it up or haul it to the dump. I did give him a quantity of copper pipe that was left over, his eyes kind of lit up over that.
