Odd for a washer or dryer. Scrap yard will pay you money for those. We get curb side recycling as part of our taxes. Curb side trash pick up is $20/month.

Once a week I ride my roadside fence line and pick up trash, every week I pick up at least 10 Keystone light beer cans. I致e got a neighbor farther up the road who really likes keystone light.

I have same problem. I'm "lucky" enough to live at an intersection between a state hwy and a county road. I'm constantly picking stuff up out of my road ditches. Most of the time it's just trash, garbage, etc. This weekend I had to carry out a blown tire. People (some) are pigs. Also get the atv'ers in summer and snow mobiler's in winter ripping up and down my road ditches, and doing burnouts, spinning donuts in my gravel driveway. Makes me want to sit in my yard swing with my M-1...

It is a huge problem here... I have caught pickups dumping in the night and called 911 and got chided for it... saying it is not an emergency and I need to wait until Monday and call code compliance.

Probably why dumpers are so brazen as the chance of getting caught it slim.

Mom is bugged by 3 large semi tires someone rolled into her creek... it is just one more thing I will need to deal with.

Dump fees are quite high... my little 4x6 box trailer can be over a $100 and double that if stumps or dirt or concrete.

Across the street from my house is around 4000 acres of pine plantation. Whenever the loggers are in there cutting timber they tear up my ditch and some of the yard. They are supposed to have a 50 ft right of way coming out onto the tar road but it is only about 25 ft. They have never widened it and turn right out into my ditch and part of the yard. I am always having to fix it every year. One lumber company actually fixed my ditch one year when I finally got a chance to talk to one of the drivers. I understand they have a job to do but it really would not take much to widen that drive so it is easier for the trucks to turn out onto the tar road.

This past hunting season I was a little late going to my property to hunt last year and when I was pulling out of the driveway there were two hunters parked in my yard waiting to turn into that land. I went up to them and asked if they would like me to go to their yard and park in it. They apologized and have stopped doing it.

I guess it could be worse, I don't have the litter problem like the rest of you. That would really fire me up.

They don't pay much though, not even enough to cover your gas.

Our district forest rangers are pretty good about that kind of thing. A few years ago a harvester crew heading out for parts came across a couch which wasn't there when they went in that morning. The local ranger was called, and managed to find an envelope in behind the cushions. The owner had driven about 30 miles to dump it in the woods; but like a boomerang it came back within hours, accompanied by a summons.
We also sometimes ban dumpers from using land under our management; and since we care for about 1.5 million acres in Maine it can be a hit for someone who likes to hunt and fish.

On my way home I saw where someone had dumped a washing machine in the ditch. Not even a deep ravine or anything, just a mile or two outside of town. Since we have lived in the country, about 20 years, I've had a recliner and sofa thrown along side the rode on my property and other places seen a T.V., couch, tile from a bathroom and large piles of leaves. One of these days I'll see someone doing it and get a plate number.

Found 7 old car tires on our road last month. Guess the a-holes couldn't afford the $2 disposal fee? :smiley_aafz:

Our local council charge $25 for car tyres and more for trucks, very recently we saw about 100 dumped on the side of the road, no doubt a tyre retailer refusing to pay outlandish fees.
The recycle centre sell these on for chipping to be used for running tracks and playgrounds, the local tyre outlet charges $5 for tyre disposal.

I took a load to our dump on the weekend. First load in a year or so. If there is enough metal they don't charge $10 for a small-ish load. More than a couple of wheelie bins will cost you the $10. Trouble is I had an old fridge on board and it cost $10 just for that as they apparently have to de-gas them now.
Last time I was there there was a stack of old computers and a huge stack of old TVs. Not this time. Not one in sight at all.

I too live very rural. Someone dumped an old refrigerator on the very back of my property. A good friend is an auxiliary deputy for the county sheriffs dept. He know everyone. I gave him a call and about 30 minutes later he and a county deputy stopped by and said the guy was coming back to pick it up. I'm like, "Wow"! The deputy already knew who it was and where it came from. I am amazed at how much law enforcement guys/gals are watchful about goings on. The dumper had just moved into an old house and the refrigerator had been left on the front porch and he decided to "deliver it" to my 70 acres. Deputy already knew all about the guy.

The only that works is to have a system that collects a fee when you buy new tires or electronics/electric stuff, and then it's free to recycle when it's worn out.
