I worked in a logging camp and they had an 849 KW with a 12V71,Detroit, 5960 Alison that would hit the scale regularly at 500,000 LBS, one was called 2103, when I left she had 23,000hrs on that motor. 30weight or sometimes 40 weight chevron oil, nothing fancy,just oil that did the job.
Didn't expect my "I didn't start an oil thread" post to turn into a serious oil thread.
JP33... what rpm did that monster diesel run? If it was loping along at 1500rpms, it might have different requirements than my BX that runs 3200.
I don't know, I just thought it may be an apples and oranges comparison.
