Not posting my project because...

Well, it's not that I haven't thought about posting :D In fact I've contributed a random piece here and there on various threads - usually in response to someone else's project, but the biggest draw back is writing up the story and keeping it up to date. I have managed to take a good number of pics and post them on a site. My projects This site has my various small projects consolidated into the main one. Look if so inclined - comments welcome. ;)

Interesting note re security. Shortly after moving here last year, I had to return to GA to finish up details. About a week after I left, my wife received a surprise visitor, all excited that he had finally found our property. Seems he had been following our shed building progress from a site that was I pretty good at keeping up-to-date. He had been taking various turns off the highway for months looking for the property. Fortunately, my wife had another friend visiting at the time so was safe. He has visited several more times with his wife, even bringing malasadas, and we bump into them at HD. :)

I still entertain thoughts of posting my house build, but somewhat after the fact when I can take more time to do the writeup.

THAT would make me nervous. I understand the challenge, but a brief note to you first might have been in order?

I don't post my projects, becuase I am sure that there will be a dismal failure at some point. The projects that are "succesfull" were either 1) too easy 2) look like Poo (is that an okay word?) 3) The failure is I forgot to use the camera.

The difference between failure and success is usually just one piece of advice. Posting pics have offered me advice when I never even asked the question or thought I needed advice.

The best example is when I set the valves on my dozer engine. I was proud of myself for figureing it out and posted how well it went. Turns out one member here steped forward and questioned my method and if I'd actualy done what I said I had, because if I did, then it wouldn't run.

I lost a day on that mistake, but because of that unasked for advice, I was able to finish my rebuild and the engine started right up!!!! Just ask yourself how valuable that advice would have been if I couldn't get the dozer to start and had to try and figure out what I did wrong!!!!

As to the fears of people finding out where you live, I'd be more worried about your neighbors, there kids friends and strangers driving by your home than somebody lurking on here trying to figure out where you live.

Almost monthly I get somebody drive into my place with a story of a lost dog or that there friend said he lived there. I know it's BS and they are either being nosey or looking for somethig to steel. I write down license plate numbers and email them to myself so they will never disapear.

If you're gonna be worried about security, than it's the crackhead down the street who drives past your home everyday with nothing better to do than find an easy target, in my opinion.

I had a recent scare from an email because I didn't recognize the person who sent it. I wasn't out anything, nor worried for my safety, it was just a big suprise. Once I figured out who it was, I replied to the email and now I might have a new friend for it.

There have been over a dozen members from TBN come out to visit me and say hi. Every time it's been allot of fun and I come away with some new insight or ideas. I pretty much have an open invite to any of you who are in the area to drop by if you'd like. The benifits far outweigh the possible negatives.

You only learn when you open yourself up,
Eddie

It takes me too long to complete a project. It took me a year just to install a pellet stove in my basement, and I'm still not finished.

So what's holding you back from letting us know what your doing?

Dart: Lack of motivation, $$$$ & room to work in the garage (until after much of the junk in there is moved & interior is drywalled, lights added, outlets set, compressor plumbed, etc., etc.).

Barn: Who wants to see a small pile of lumber under plastic, & 10 holes in the ground? Would have taken pics of the bobcat W/post hole digger in action, but the action didn't start until 4:30 PM & that's about dark this time of year. Construction should start next week (I hope) & I'll take a couple pics then. One day soon, the heap JD will have a home out of the weather (along with all the garden equipment that's taking up garage space).

Security: I feel much more secure here in "the country" than I ever did in the suburbs of Trenton! I can't tell you how many times I've had cars & trucks vandalized there (my Dart was keyed, the '68 Barracuda was keyed a couple months after being painted, cars & trucks egged more than a couple times, & stupid stuff like metal valve caps on wheels stolen). Mr. Winchester takes care of security; 12 ga indoor, 30-30 outdoor (for some reason I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a hand gun, but can pick off a gnat @ 100 ft with a rifle).

I'm really sensitive, and I'm afraid Gatorboy might criticize it. ;)

... not really following the reason for this thread? Are you asking a hypothetical question?

It's not the sensitive part, it's the arrogant part!

I know that there are always "people" in the world who always have to "ney-say" something. It seems that they are not happy unless they can complain about a thing that a person has said or done. Many times here I have seen a guy proudly post a project, only to get busted by someone who gets personal satisfaction by finding the negatives. "Well you did not level it, you did not have the ROPS folded out, blah, blah, blah!"

I always enjoy reading about other members projects. No one here should think twice about posting something here that they have done especially if you think it may help someone else! We're not perfect, and certainly we are not all great with grammar and typing (I've seen that pointed out here before, had nothing to do with the subject of post).

Enough of the childish nit-picking, belittiling comments and let people feel free to post project here without having good intentions suppressed! Lighten up!
