I am saddened every time someones opinions or humor are lost to the "Recycle Bin"...

I gain much from the divergence of opinion here on TBNet....I often chase citations found here, learning something new, and when I choose to post, I never leave a healthy argument unchanged...at least just by finding new things NOT to like...

The politics of "Offense" is a just a weak form of "Ad Hominem" attack...and cowardly at that.

After unsheathing the blade of debate in an open arena, opting to test the weight of their ideas in open combat and having their treasured opinions take a philosophical cut or two, the user of the "Offense" stratagem attacks the honor of the other party, provoking increasingly heated retaliation and then hides behind a shield of "Hurt Feelings" until the Mods rightly call a halt to the engagement.

Kick up enough dust in the sandbox and someone will put a stop to Recess...

How sad...it eventually become a "Tyranny of the Offended"....

I love a good scrap...just ask Precious Bride...but you can argue without rancor, disagree without belittling, engage in heated debate while maintaining simple good manners and somewhere between the stony foreheads of the most vociferous of adversaries, (me and Precious Bride, for example!) can often be found a razor thin sliver of accommodation.

I suppose it's human nature to want to win....everything....even an argument in cyberspace....some folks just can't tolerate even the slightest loss of "face"....

I believe that a sense of humor is inextricably linked with a sense of irony...and the ability to endure a bit of self-deprecation and still keep a good attitude indicates a more mature soul...

But, no matter how you cut it, the worst point in any argument is when you realize that YOU are wrong....it takes a really big person to back down gracefully from the parapets and say it...

Over the years, I have found more ways to eat crow than Bubba Blue had for shrimp....

Anyway - I like to argue...finding a way to do it with gusto and stay within the bounds set by the Mods is the key....and if you care to disagree with me....?

...it is my fondest wish that when you reach your home safely tonight, your Mom doesn't run out from under the porch and bite you in the ###...:D

Will you all quit your complaining and move on? I own two forums and most of the time, a thread is removed or deleted because another member or other members flagged it as inappropiate.

It doesn't mean that the modoerators or admin are on the prowl. Also-how many people actually read the forum rules?

We send those messages as a courtesy so people know that a post was removed. I guess we could improve it by adding the thread or post title. It doesn't go on your record or anything so don't worry about it.

I tried to make the e-mails as friendly as possible so as to not make people feel like they are being slapped on the wrist or anything, because that's really not the case 99% of the time.

Well dude post the address and we can all move there to finish the conversation.

Start it with this:

*ring* *ring*
"Heavens kitchen how may I help you"?
"Ya, I'm over on cloud 59. What's the special tonight"?
"Well we have a fresh spineless individual from tractorbynet who has been roasting in He!! for 2 days now and should be just about ready".
"That would be great. The spineless ones are always easier to chew. Send him over when you can".
"Yes sir"

ignoring posts/posters is typical for those that simply refuse to read the opinions of others that they disagree with and or they have no argument that can counter the logic of those they disagree with..."the truth hurts" and ignoring someone's opinion merely suppresses the pain.

This forum is a great (unsurpassed) source of information when it comes to tractors and related topics and because of its diversity of contributors it also has diversity of intellects. Those that refuse to acknowledge diverse opinions (ignore lists) because they are so different form their own are only showing their lack of intellect.

Stupid people almost always reject what they do not agree with or do not understand.

That's a crass ststement perpetrated by your lack of insight. People aren't stupid, just mis-informed. Just ask the current crop of professional politicians.............:)

Not sure about supressing the pain. More like I don't want to read extended and extrapolated drivel....

All forums are made up of opinions gained from actual events (some of the time) and opinions garnered from fantasy (most of the time).

However, navigating through the drivel and biased opinions is the job of the moderators, thank goodness.

I can just place a drivel purveyor on ignore and be done with it.

Your judgment of my insight is contrived only by your ignorance of my abilities to perceive both the obvious and the obscure.

And, if you don't think there are "stupid people" why are so many folks arrested for driving under the influience?, why are there so many inane television shows (and talentless personalities) that are so popular? and finally why do we have the "current crop" of politicians currently in office (starting at the top I might add)???

I personally see very little if any "drivel" on TBN, most comments, questions and opinions are viable and honest.

We are all ignorant to many things and we and our opinions are all biased to a degree, it's what makes us different which Martha Stewart would say "is a good thing"
