Ok, so I banged the filter off with a punch and hammer.
The manual for the L3010 HST says turn the Hydro-Transmission filter 1 turn after contact. There are markings on the side of the filter to help you guage 1 turn. I can only
turn it 1/4 to 1/2 with a major long handle filter wrench.
It is tight, but not 1 turn. It does not leak when running, YET.
Anyone else have experience with tightening this filter and if 1 turn is necessary?

I have only hand tightened every oil filter I've ever put on, hundreds, and never had one leak. My hands are not big and I'm not that strong either. This includes the hydro and oil filters on my L3130.

The way I see that recommendation is to ensure that people try and get that much turn out of it. I never remember getting a full turn out of one. I think it's for those people that may cock the filter to one side while installing it and start the 1 turn as soon as that one place is touching. That way 1 turn would give you about what you got in your half-a-turn.

Exactly what kind of "major" wrench are you using?
I was able to turn mine the correct amount, 1 full turn. Are you sure you have the correct filter? J

My filter is from Kubota and is exactly the same as the original. Threads fit fine. The gasket does not protrude much from the base, so I don't see how it cold turn much more than 1/4 turn without starting to strip threads.

I've probably missed the entire point here .
But, if it's not leaking ( yet ) , then there isn't a problem /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The filter is filtering ,and the seal is sealing . All is good in tractor land /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif JMHO , John

On my 3010 and now 3130 I tightened the HST filter as tight as I could by hand with no problems. You should be alright, Just keep watch on the filter for the 1st few times you use the tractor.
