Yes, but I'll state it a little more succinctly. The problem is on your end. The vast majority of people, with 1000s of posts have never had a problem. Maybe the site was having a problem at the time. Maybe your Internet connection had a problem at the time. Maybe your browser had a problem at the time. Exactly how can anyone determine the cause? I offered one possibility and you responded with attitude. That's lame.

Again, the problem is not on my end. This has happened over a period of months and at work. I posted a link to others that had the same problem. Your second post was worthless and not helpful. If you have nothing else to contribute why post?

Seems to be fine this morning. It was taking up to 60 seconds to load, if it did load, otherwise I would just get the other error I posted.

I have a 10mbs connection and all other sites were fine.

Tin,

Did you mean to say 100 mbs? John

The problem may not be on your "end" but is obviously somewhere between you and TBN. If the problem were on TBN's end, others would be having the same problem. I have no idea what the routing is between you and TBN, but other folks who are more computer savvy than I might know how to trace the routing and find where the problem is. You might contact your ISP and ask for their help. In other words, I don't think the problem is with the website, but instead is with the routing. But I guess none of us understand your attitude toward someone who tried to help you.

2 or 3 times while i am looking at TBN a box comes up "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" . This happens daily but not on any other site .

Iron Horse, that's a problem that I have now and then ever since I bought this new computer with Windows Vista, but I haven't found it to be related to any particular website. It's happened when I was on TBN, but also when I've been on other sites.

Just another thought, if you haven't tried it.....if you Google the error message - "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage," you'll find the Microsoft help information that guides you through several suggested solutions to your problem. I am anything, but computer saavy, and found information on a past computer problem I was having to be very helpful. Worth a try. Dyer, retired

Thanks for the productive and constructive replies from most of you. I am not trying to complain just for kicks, I am trying to make the website better. The site has been fine the past few days, if I have problems again I will delve further into the causes and perhaps a solution.

Fairly regularly, especially after being on-site for an hour or more, I fail to get "back" to the previous page. Often this occurs after I have viewed someone's photo and more often than not it is an off-TNB photo album. But it has occurred other times too. A bummer when you are posting. :( To get back I normally I exit my browser (IE6), disconnect, then reconnect and go back to TBN. This usually works. A couple of times I've needed to re-boot. I don't have any other troubles with other sites, emails, etc but then, I go to very few other forums.

I am running WinXP home w/WildBlue satellite @ 100Mbps

For those of us with occasional problems here is a suggestion:
When ever I am posting, especially if it is a long post, I copy the post to my notepad before I submit. Then, if a problems occurs, I have not lost my post. When I can get on board again I just copy from the notepad. If the post submits fine I just close the notepad without saving it.

Mike,

I have had the same problem for a couple of months now. I posted this under the News/Feedback but no one really came up with a solution.

I'm certain it is on my end but even though I get a Page Cannot Be displayed in IE or just a blank page in Firefox, no one has been able to help with it. It is not a connection issue, as soon as you hit the back arrow you go back one screen if you will, and can read the topic titles fine. As soon as you click on a title to read the post you get the error or blank page.

I have a Dell Vista box and I am quite certain is has to do with either IE7 or the Vista or something between the two. I can take my old PC with XP and surf all day and not have this problem. This is the only site I can definitively say I have the problems with and it gets pretty frustrating. This is just about my favorite site!

Thanks for listening. I share Pushing_Tin's Pain!!

I have a Dell Vista box

Have you downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 (SP1)? Unfortunately, it did not solve all the Vista problems, but I think it did help my Hewlett-Packard with Vista. And it does take a long time to download and install.

We were unaware of any server outages at that time.

If a page is loading slowly, it's helpful if you can check the load time at the bottom (look for something like: Page generated in 0.11744 seconds with 9 queries) and post that. If that number is high, it's definitely a problem on our end.

Yes, it's true that we backup the forum at a specific time every night and that can really slow things down. Our server loads spike and when people conduct searches on top of that it can lock up the db. We do the backups around 2AM EST, I think.

Other possible reasons for slow-downs are routing issues between your ISP and our server. There are various internet "traffic report" websites that track the status of major routers around the country (and world)... sometimes one can go out and you get caught trying to reach our site through that route. Refresh and your ISP re-routes you and you get here instantly.

If you are getting a server not found, that is most likely linked to what I just described. The only case it would be a problem on our end would be if our server was either turned off or disconnected from the internet. And we know when that happens.

In my experience, I encounter random slow-downs all over the internet... sometimes it's my own DSL connection... sometiems it's a router issue... sometimes a web server issue.

We do appreciate the report, though.
