Just curious as to if anyone has installed a lower radiator heater to not only help warm the engine but to also help the cab to warm up quicker. It could easily be put on a wireless remote or timer.
Anyone done this and what say ye? Definately a cheap mod.

Guess I put this in the wrong forum place

Think most have just installed the heater in the block. Remove a freeze plug and replace with the heater.

EricTheOracle installed an after-market higher temp thermostat to speed warm up in No. Minnesota winters and reports it works well. Not sure where in his epic thread "My NX6010" he discusses it, but perhaps he'll weigh in.

After doing some research I read where someone emailed Kioti and a block heater voids the warranty so I emailed my dealer and he gave an example that Kioti did indeed not want anyone to use the block heaters.
My question is since I'm not home what size is the heater hose so I can pick up a heater? This is for an NX4510HC

My dealer installed a block heater. I thought a block heater was a factory option.

In Minnesota, everything should be adapted to being able to fire up in the cold. Otherwise, things won't start at all or increased damage results from cold starts in the cold, or cold running in the cold.

Anyway, here is the block heater thread if you don't want to wade through the My NX6010 thread.

rubbish

block heaters are used on thousands and thousands and thousands (probably millions and millions) of pieces of equipment and vehicles all over the world

my Kioti has one, my deutz has two, my minnie has one, my pickups have them. Everything I have ever owned has had one. Everything.

ridiculous

Just watched the youtube how-to video in the Kioti block heater thread Eric linked to above. Very well done, and it looks like an easy install. But I was surprised at how little clearance there is between the bottom of the freeze plug and the cylinder wall. If I were to install a block heater, I don't think I'd use the drill-and-screw method of removing the freeze plug! Another TBN member did that a few weeks ago on his Kubota L5240 and drilled right into the cylinder before he realized it! http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/351284-damaged-block-installing-block-heater.html

I ended up sending an email directly to Kioti asking if it is OK to install a block heater and will it void the warranty. Hopefully I will get a reply Monday and will post their response. I agree with others that it is borderline ridiculous if Kioti voids the warranty if one is installed but that doesnt mean they won't even though they are installed on tons of vehicles, including Kioti. Based on my dealer telling me NO and another individual saying Kioti told them it does void the warranty I would like to verify before I would go this route. I hope Kioti, if they say it will void the warranty, will give a detailed explanation as to why. My dealer did give the basic same reason threepoint said. Kioti service told my dealer that a customer had installed a block heater and the clearance between the cylinder wall is so close the element touched the wall and doing so it heated the cylinder wall, distorting it and upon startup it scored the Piston and broke the rings.

So since there is question as to the warranty being voided I'll let Kioti give a response. Also let it be known I am not doubting anyone here but initially when I read another thread that Kioti told them it would void the warranty (they didn't give the reason) I called my dealer and he said Kioti told him NO to the block heater. My dealer has been spot on with all information he has given in the past so I don't want to jeopardize my warranty until I have official conformation. If I was out of warranty this would be a non issue.

This still doesn't answer the lower radiator hose size for someone wanting to install a heater in the lower radiator. if I went that route was just wanting to have it ready instead of having to drain then drive an hour to pick one up....of course my luck I get it and its the wrong size....their is never enough time to do it right but always time to do it over....

NEWS FLASH -

I have not received a direct email from Kioti as yet but I did from my dealer:

he said "you must have rolled some heads at Kioti" (he had to be kidding because this had to be in the works)
he said he just received his Monday morning 2/29/16 update newsletter and for the first time (he is the oldest Kioti dealer in the US) they had a news flash that they have added a Block heater. Since I have an NX he only looked to make sure it was there and it was (ie so others probably are too but didn't check). It is also now an order option for the tractor also. Your dealer orders them through Wholegoods, NOT Kioti parts. It is a 400W element and the part number is Wholegoods AAA247. I think the price was $68.

I'll still post Kioti's response when I get it....
I ordered one and can post picture of what I get...
