Well today was one of those days that reminds you that spring is just around the corner. Started out cold at -10F, but warmed up to a sunny 18*, which really felt pretty nice. Anyhow, Tim (TBN member TSO) dropped off my NX6010CH this afternoon, it was great meeting another TBN member and I was really glad Tim was able to get my new tractor here as quick as he did. First thing I did was get it inside and gave it a thorough washdown to eliminate some of the road grime from it's trip in from Michigan. While I'm glad I got this done, it turned out to be something of a nuisance since all the moisture from washing it in a warm area and then moving it back outside in cold weather caused some extreme moisture buildup on the inside windows, which quickly turned to a thick layer of frost after sunset. So I spent some time warming up the cab to melt the frost and wipe down the moisture. I can't get over the luxury of being inside a warm, quiet cab. After the sun went down, temps quickly dropped back into the single digits, but it was toasty inside. I'm really pleased with the way the tractor operates, but I did quickly run into 2 problems. Number one, after running the tractor for 30 minutes, I noticed that the engine temp gauge was still all the way down at cold. The needle moves with all the other gauge needles when the engine is first started, but it goes all the way back to cold even if the tractor is warm. I'll have to start chasing the wiring next warm day that comes along, hopefully its just a loose or disconnected wire and not a sensor. The second problem is that I went to hook up my snowplow, and discovered that because of the way I designed and built the plow mounting frame, I can't attach the plow on this tractor without modification. This is because I made the plow yoke with a tucked-under design, and there's a diagonal brace coming up on each side of the frame on the inside of the tractor's QA plates. This worked fine on the Mahindra, but the KL6010's tubular reinforcement bar is much closer to the tip of the loader, and it hits my plow braces preventing the quick attach from seating. Not actually a big deal, I just have to cut the braces off the plow frame and re-weld them at a steeper angle to clear the loader brace. Only problem is that there's snow coming tomorrow and tomorrow night, which means I'll need to plow on Monday morning. And I'm going to be gone most of the day tomorrow, I'll have to try to slip the project in somehow. No way I'm plowing with the Mahindra on Monday morning :D Here's a pic, it was getting dark so it's not the greatest, but as they say, it didn't happen without pictures!

First, congratulations on your shiny, new tractor, number 12!

I bet the engine temp gauge is working. Pull out the radiator clean out screen and slide in a bit of cardboard with a hole in the middle.

FWIW, I installed a warmer thermostat in my tractor but I have not tested it in warm weather with a maximum load.

Second, you have all night to cut the welds and redo them.

Third, you need to update your tractor profile!

Eric, you were right about the temp gauge. I plowed today, and the gauge quickly came up to operating temp when under load. I guess not having a load on it in much colder weather (it's 20* today) just wasn't enough to warm up the engine.

Sweet, and if you break anything, Eric can give you a complete description on how to fix it:laughing:

Yeah, it's a good thing Eric is as proficient at fixing stuff as he is breaking it :D

RockyNY, congratulations on the new NX tractor. I think you're going to love the roomy cab and (dare I say it?) the smooth, instant-starting final-Tier-4 engine with no diesel smell. :)

The list of NX series owners on TBN seems to be growing pretty quickly, so we'll be developing a pretty good data base for current and future users. There are already some good ideas for mods that you might be interested in, courtesy of the inimitable EricTheOracle, CountryBumpkin, KiotiKevin and others. E.g., backup camera with 7" cab-mounted monitor (special thanks to Bullitt94's epic thread), LED worklight retrofit (altho the OEMs have been bright enough for me so far), chainsaw carrier, enhanced underbody armor for extreme service, nifty tow/logging chain carrier, amber warning beacon, dedicated battery maintainer connector for quick plug-in, adjustment of DPF filter location for easier removal of radiator clean-out screens. If you didn't opt for the factory radio, there are tips for installing an aftermarket unit. Other things, as well, that I'm probably not remembering offhand. The DK series owners have had some important heads-up tips for us as well, such as checking (and "loc-titeing") the bucket level adjustment assembly, rechecking loader attachment bolts, loosening ridiculously tight fluid filters.

Oh, on-board small tool and accessory storage is a bit of an issue with the cab tractors (not necessarily limited to Kioti of course). For the time being, I've found that two of the inexpensive 15" soft tool bags from HF (the ones with the soft, not rigid bottoms) tuck neatly behind the NX factory seat, one on top of the other, and are easily accessible if not overfilled. They hold a surprising amount of stuff, metric wrenches, channel-locks, small prybar, stubby hammers, volt-ohm meter, hitch and link pins, web tow strap, tape measure, etc. 15" Canvas Tool Bag

I'm sure you'll be adding your own experience to the database in no time.
