Now I know.
However why do they also install them in the ladies facilities? or was it an 'equality issue'/

Having lived in NJ, I will say that there are alot of places that are far apart from what you see while driving up the NJ turnpike. Having said that though, if you read those articles about the best place to live or retire, etc., NJ never makes the good lists.

PS, commercial work is pretty much locked into place but for the infividual homeowner, weekends and holidays are the way to go.

The biggest was ADA compliance. Because of that the base had to be designed and built to that standard. The biggest laugher was the parking lot. I forget the percentage, but think of the silliness of an approximate 600 space parking lot to accommodate in shape and fit military members with 20 handicap parking spots right up front that couldn't be used.:mur:

ADA nonsense is a hoot. Local drive thru burger joint has 3 parking places out front so you can choke down your food in the car if you want.......one of them had to be handicap marked. Now, there is no public restroom, there is no picnic table, there is NO reason at all to get out of your vehicle.....but 33% of the spaces have to be designated for a handicapped person that will NEVER have any reason to get out, just like the non handicapped people have no reason to get out. In this particular case, they are BOTH EQUAL......but one gets preferential treatment.

Katrina caused extensive damage to my home . Much of the roof and wall structure, sheet rock, plumbing and wiring had to be replaced . Each job required a special parish inspector and a Super Special Inspector to inspect the approval of the others. The power was down as the service was ripped off the house . Wiring was fixed and sheet rock was replaced . Power company would not restore power until inspection was done . Inspector came, plugged in one of those small hand testers to a outlet and announced you have no power . Told him the power co . needed the inspection per code . He said he should fail me, but would make an exception . Talk about catch 22 ! Can 't pass inspection without power - Can 't get power without inspection .

Heater inspector came . Opened door on heater closet enclosure, sniffed for gas and passed me . He never asked about second floor heater nor did I mention it . Two weeks later I discovered I had a slow gas leak in some of the piping which the installer promptly fixed .

Super Special Inspector came . Never got out of air conditioned truck . Rolled down window and Said in his best traditional good old boy manner, " ya 'll 'bout done wit da stuff ? ". I said " yep ", he said " here 's ya sticker . Beautiful day ain 't it" and left .

I bought a house I had to do some fixing up , one day I am in my truck and the grading inspector shows up with a bunch of papers . he asked me why I didnt get a permit to disturb over 5000 sq feet of area , clearing and grading . ( someone called on me) I told him all I did was cut my grass and pick up limbs on the property . The shows me the pictures he has and tells me I am looking at 10 grand in fines , just tell me the truth . Told him the same thing again , and asked him if he knows what bamboo is ? Yes its a grass, and a pause . He then looked a bit harder at the property , then he asked about digging out the stumps ? They are still there covered with 6 inches of wood chips so I can run a mower over it . Turned out to be a nice guy and told me I was fine with what I did .....................................Never asked about the house .

BTW, after years of research, unlike motorcycles there is zero proof that bicycle helmets actually reduce serious injury in bicycle accidents.

This study says they do. Bicycle Helmet Statistics. I have zero problem with someone riding a bicycle or motorcycle without a helmet. I think all that wants to ride either a bicycle or motorcycle without a helmet should be able to file papers saying the choice was theirs to make and no tax dollars will be spent for medical treatment or rehab. Then when they fall, or are struck by a motor vehicle or run into something they can enjoy life the way they wanted to.

Don't know about studies, but while living in Germany in the 70's (in service), my wife and I were out for a walk one day. We were going up a fairly steep hill road when a guy on a bicycle came down the hill. He had a child riding on the handlebars. (yeah, stupid). The child must have stuck his foot in the spokes of the front wheel, because the bike came a near dead stop, did a 180 degree flip, and the guy went head over heels over the child, hit the pavement head first, knocking him out cold. I thought he was dead at first.

We ran over, got the kid out of the spokes (he wasn't hurt, just scared/crying), called the Polezei, who got an ambulance on scene, and they carted the guy off, still out of this world. I don't know that a helmet would have helped, but I suspect the guy had a serious concussion at a minimum.

In my opinion the helmet would have cushioned the hit to the "coconut".
