What I'm new to modern smart phones...in the early and mid 90's I was a WAP developer...I wrote some of the first scripts that brought animated weather radar images to early mobile phones...later I worked on an application (we didn't call them apps then) to view traffic cams...back then every time the phone manufacturers would change the browser on their phones they would send me the latest/greatest...also used a lot of virtual simulators...
Time warp skip forward...
No cell service here... have had no use for a phone except for road emergencies...

I am mainly interested in the video cameras (recording, not viewing).
Again no service here so there is really no point in turning the phone on at home other than to use the cameras and maybe the wi-fi..

https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/iphone-se-vs-iphone-6/amp/

This page has a side by side including the cameras and video quality/features. I've found the video is fine with both devices- and previous versions. But then again most of the time I'm looking at the video on my phone or iPad. I haven't had issues with less ram either.

Btw- the newer OS's (both phones) allow for phone via wifi. You can also use a wifi to cell "range extender." Some people do this so they can ditch the land line.

I upgraded from a 4S to an SE in April of '16. The 4S was still working fine, but I wanted the fingerprint reader so it would be easier to unlock the phone. Various financial apps are now also using the fingerprint reader, simplifying those logins, too. The SE is a little longer than the 4S and isn't as comfortable in the front pocket of a pair of jeans, but it does fit. I tried to use the belt carrier that came with my Otterbox Defender case for a while, but it was always catching on things and I couldn't lay on that side if I had to crawl under something. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the SE will work on any network just by replacing the SIM card. The photos and videos that come out of the camera are really good, but I still reach for a dedicated digital camera if I want really great pics. Like you, I don't carry it around inside the house, but I do use it quite a bit to take and read notes like todo lists and such, and as a remote for lights, fans, and HVAC controlled by Apple's Homekit. I use the level app to check the ground before I pitch a tent, read eBooks on it while I'm standing in line, and find my way around town with the built in GPS and Google's Maps app. I've installed an app that displays the constellations to help me get more familiar with the stars, and another that will tell me the origination, destination, and flight number of the airplane overhead. I never used to instant message much, but the voice recognition on the SE is good enough that I seldom type anymore, and IM often works where a cell phone won't. Another app helped me align the satellite dish for the internet service, there's one for finding free camping spots and getting help during a break down, and another one for finding free WiFi hotspots. I've used it as my only internet interface during long trips and been able to do just about everything I needed, even ordered my last laptop and iPad with it last Black Friday. I even tether my laptop to the internet using it when there's no WiFi available, and make phone calls using my laptop through it as well. I don't see any "must have" features in Apple's future plans that would motivate me to upgrade, but then Apple hasn't exactly been generous with sharing those plans with us mere mortals.

The only problem I've had with it was overheating when I mounted it to my windshield and the sun tried to cook it. It just shut itself down and revived just fine when it cooled off. I wish all of my electronics were as reliable and easy to use as this iPhone.

I've had the SE for just over a year now. I upgraded from a 5S. My wife has a 6S which is bigger and bulkier than my SE which is the main reason I did not get the 6S. I carry my phone in my front shirt pocket and I didn't want anything bigger than the 5S or the SE for my pocket.

There are times that I wish I had a bigger screen for viewing photos and videos, but there are settings to make the text bigger on the phone. And I can live with the smaller screen.

I'm not sure what I'll get when it's time to upgrade again...

Really appreciate all the replies especially the first hand experiences...
I'm leaning toward the SE more and more but still deciding...
Am still finding more reviews and comparisons on the net...hope to make a decision by the first of the week...

Your best bet would be to walk into an Apple Store and let one of the associates there walk you through a demo. If you've already got a smart phone, bring it along and have them explain to you how you'd migrate your data. You can look at all the iPhones and will probably walk out with something you're really comfortable with.:2cents:

.....The wife and kids all have IPhone SE. They have all had them over a year, without any problems. With the exception of storage space, which is limited, which may not be a problem for you.
... keep in mind, I have teenagers, and no home internet, so all of our phones our used constantly. The kids regularly hit 100gb of data used a month.!!!!!!! Good thing we have unlimited data.
....price was the primary reason they have the SE. They cost us less than $150 each from Cricket, and after 6 months we had the carrier lock removed, so they are unlocked phones that we can switch providers with, if we want.

Wife and I both have iPhone SE's. We had always been Android users until now but hated the big phones, and it's tough to get anything small except the iPhone. I originally got an iPhone 7 but traded it in after about a week. It was slippery, more difficult to use with one hand, and didn't offer any noticeable advantage that I could detect vs the SE after comparing for about a week. Battery life is better on the SE also.

Only limitation I have found is no data while on the phone. Rarely comes up, but sometimes it would be nice, checking restaurant hours or something while on the phone. I'm not sure if the 7 was able to do that or not. My androids always had that capability.

We use Gmail and Google photos etc. All of that works seamlessly on the iPhone as well. Highly recommend it if you aren't already using those services. Nothing is on my physical phone, everything backed up. If I dropped my phone in the ocean I would shrug and go get another one and wouldn't lose a single picture or any of my contact information.

I upgraded to a 7 from an SE. I liked the size of the SE but the 7 is a little bit better in most ways. The size larger is better when you are using it. They both are thin which helps. I'm also betting the SE is cheaper

I will be making the decision early this week...

iphone SE - $200

iphone 6 - $300

iphone 7 - $800

.....What's the memory on the 6 for $300??
If it has more memory than the SE, I would get it. If not, save the $100. Lol.
.....Storage space for me is important, as we live in the boonies with no internet, and sometimes spotty cell service.......so I download a lot of stuff to my phone so I can access it when I don't have a signal.. storage can get eaten up quickly by a few videos.
