When I was growing up in the good ol 60s and 70s, I don't recall seeing many overweight farmers if any. Everyone drove open tractors, you had to get off the tractor to hook up,you hoed weeds. I believe that hoeing cotton when it is hotternhell should be mandatory for anyone convicted of a crime. Do I hear an Amen? Most rural people lived off of a garden that they raised themselves. We didn't have 24 hr. tv and gameboy. Look at the lables on ANY packedged food at the store and see how much SODIUM is in it. My doctor put me on a low sodium diet about 6 yrs. ago and I was so PO'd because most everything I liked was on the bad list. I stuck to it though and no one was killed or injured. I still have to have a Whopper every now and then. Just my fiddy cent worth.:D

Just thinking about the past when things were fried, it was done in Crisco, (lard). Seems with these newer oils, no transfats, etc., fried foods would be better on your body than before and the weight would not be as easy to put on. But...I guess we answered the question earlier...people are not getting the exercise as the earlier generations did.

Is it ironic that this thread has been running next to (above or below) the thread on chicken pot pie most of the day? How many other non-food threads are in this forum? Oh, well, I must be off for, ummmmm....a tiny snack, yes, that's it. A tiny snack.

I LOVE Krystals.....

Good thing they are not around my area. Last time I had Krystals was years ago driving through Atlanta. Saw a sign pulled of the highway and bought a bag. The wifey thought I was nuts and still talks about me getting the grease bombs. :D
