Moving from Prague to USA and the life style change gave me about 5 kilos weight gain. It makes a difference to take public transportation (and chase buses and street cars, that always pull in when you are near by) and drive everywhere with only walking from parking lot to your desk and back.

And yes, there are gyms and such but I always feel it stupid to burn energy on a machine running/biking nowhere in ACed room and watching TV.
Luckily now in VA I can split wood and dig ditches and similar hard labor - prefer that kind of workout to gym anytime.

And I like to eat and my wife loves to cook and she is very good at it - I have no choice, but to work my tail off to stay in decent size/shape.

If I may say something incorrect, the impression of American ladies I heard more than once is that they have bigger butts than in Europe - comes from driving everywhere, IMHO:D

I think it was George Carlin who said, "America is the only country in the world where the poor are fat and the rich are thin." That's probably true for all of history too.

He was a clever guy, I'm going to miss him.

Actually in the past it was the other way around. Weight showed you had wealth and could afford to eat well. Skinny and you had little. Dark tanned skin meant you were a worker outside all the time. No tan and you didn't have to bother.

So fat chicks were in then. Ever see all those painting of the rich!! hehe.

I think these statistics prove one thing: Binge drinking prevents tooth loss. :D  :D

Hey, I still have all of my teeth. Maybe that's why! :)

We are in the county fair and lawn party season... never saw so many deep fried foods, deep fried chicken, deep fried twinkes, deep fried snicker bars, funnel cakes, the list is endless!
