Observations on Switch to Synthetic Oil

Well..lets say it this way? I have a motorhome that has a generator built in with a Kubota engine. The oil requirements for it are 10W-30 DIESEL rated oil. I found that the 10W-30 that I HAD in it..WASNT diesel rated..so I switched it to Shell Syn 5W-40. I AM NOT a fan of SYN oils..as I believe in MANY cases they arent NEEDED and are used by many because its the "fad"...but it my case it was use the SYN 5W-40..or a totally wrong oil..which I wont do.

Beyond a doubt..the engine doesnt make as much "noise"...doesnt have the same amount of "knock" or ??..whatever you wish to call it..as it did from the factory..or when running the DINO 10W-30 I had previousy put in it.

AND..BTW...this is the same oil I intend on running in my Kubota B3030 because of the exact same reasons ( cant find a readily available DINO 10W-30 thats diesel rated)

MYSTIK OIL, JT-8 comes in diesel rated 10W-30. I believe this is a Citgo product now.

And I ALWAYS attempt to emphasize the term READILY AVAILABLE! I can get MYSTIK "grease" at TSC...otherwise...Im SOL. I COULD buy Kubota branded 10W30 dino..but at $3.10 a qt...NOPE

Sully2 - I don't know about your area's availability of MYSTIK JT-8 but here I get it at the Farm & Fleet. I have an out as the BX2230 manual also says 10W-40 is acceptable and that weight is more readily available if the 10W-30 should disappear. Other than the MYSTIK another 10W-30 diesel oil is hard to find.

Fleet Farm has diesel oil in 10W30. 5 and 10 quart containers.

Never heard of "Fleet Farm"...and if you are referring to "FARM and FLEET"...last one of those was 30 miles away and closed up years ago.

Farm and Fleet is a different outfit.

Fleet Farms are all over Minnesota and Wisconsin. They may not be in Ohio.

Glad I got one nearby. At my age, they are better than havin a Victoria's Secret nearby. My wife calls Fleet Farm "Fleet Secrets" cuz I'm there so much.

You are going to think I am making this up, but they actually have a "Wedding Registry" at Fleet Farm. Like at Saks, etc.

Now I am married to a good woman, but she would never have gone along with that.
