In the last 2 losses, we walked Ortiz and the next guy hit a homer and a double to essentially win the games in the late innings. He is hot but, based on the odds, should make at least a few outs going forward --- at least that's my story.

To answer your question, if I were the manager I'd pitch to him with no one on base. If someone was on base, I'd give him one of those "intentional, non-intentional walks".

I'd say to pitch to him if you are ahead by two runs and the Sox don't have anyone on base. That way, the most damage he could do is get a home run and you still have the lead. The odds are far more in your favor of his getting a single or double. He's not a base stealer, so having him on base from a single is no worse than having him on base from an intentional walk. You don't have to listen to a gazillion Sox fans booing you at the top of their lungs either.:D

David Ortiz is currently batting .733 in this world series. That's almost unheard of......733 in a world series has only happened once before....in over 150 years, He has 11 hits for 15 at bats. You really can't enhance that kind of skill in the batter's box.
Billy Hatcher batted .750 in the 1990 world series...he was 30 at the time. Other than Billy, the Babe is the only one to come close batting .625.

David Ortiz is 37 years old and weighs over 300lbs.

David's performance has put him in the company of some pretty famous baseball players...a few that come to mind immediately ....Sammy Sosa, Mark Mcguire, Jose Canseco, Ryan Braun, Rafael Plameiro and Roger Clemens......

Yes, he is a real baseball hero and I'm sure he will be remembered properly.

and you're inferring that he juices?

If so, please source that claim.

I second this! I'm a Cards fan and not an Ortiz fan, but I have trouble believing he's juicing.

BTW, juicing gives you more power, but doesn't necessarily make you see the ball better. Ortiz is seeing the ball just like it's a freaking basketball coming at him!

Priciest ticket in history for possible Red Sox clincher | The Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram

The average price for a ticket to Fenway Park for Game 6 of the World Series hit $2,374 Tuesday night, a 46 percent increase from Monday, and was still rising.

Even standing-room tickets for tonight’s game surged to an average of $925 on Tuesday, a 57 percent increase from Monday, according to TiqIQ, a ticket tracking company. And a seat behind a dugout fetched more than $11,500.

My son that lives in the Boston area used to go time-shares on a small block of season tickets with friends. That's one affordable way to have good seats at a couple games every summer. It's getting too expensive to see the Pats or Sox play for most people but for 10 years, until last year with the idiot manager, the Sox sold out the stadium for every game. It's not a big stadium: 37,400 capacity.

I checked ebay on Tuesday and seats were starting at $700, but still clearly too expensive for the average fan.

and as you may have heard, the President is in town this afternoon as well.... Crazy day in Boston.

The last couple of games I made at Fenway were standing room only.
