Well I guess I'll go home from work and get the loader on my new B2620 tonight. I thought I would have to wait till January to clear snow. Wow... I can't believe the forecast for central Pa. In my 47 years of life I've never heard a forecast like this in October for this area.

I'm counting on the Bota to run well tomorrow!

Colder than usual down here in NC also. Good luck and be careful. Hopefully you have a cab with a heater.:):tractor: Winter Snowfall is pretty but COLD.

Temperatue in Montgomery, AL right now is 73. In Bham, 90 miles north, it is 53 and coming this way. At least, maybe the deer hunting will be better.

Actually, it's not going to be that cold (mid to upper 30's here in south central PA). Going to be a wet heavy snow, according to the local weather guessers.

Tcfake613...other then a pretty good dry spell from 2003 to 2009, snows weren't uncommon in the late October/early November time frame here in south central PA.
We're just getting back to more typical weather for this time of year. IMHO, plan on a pretty tough November through January and, if you don't have chains yet...good time to buy 'em (www.tirechains.com in Johnstown PA).

RE: Roy Jackson Supposed to be 30-34 by tomorrow morning and snow flurries in the County above us. I don't mind the snow, being that I was raised in a mountain region, but "ice storms"are not my cup of tea. I have only experienced 4 of them during my lifetime, but that is plenty enough.:)

We have 9-14" of snow in the forecast for this weekend. That is just crazy. Even for Maine

You'll be colder there in NC (western NC??) then here in PA.

I don't envy anyone for ice storms...been through a couple, but not like you've had in the south the last several years.

Had one of these October storms in Western NY 5 years ago. Big mess. Generator back up and chain saws were key in getting thru it.

We're in the Piedmont. In regards to the ice storms: I bought this property about 12 tears ago and I use to take a Greyhound to come here to do some work. When we were having the well drilled and installing the septic around 10 years ago, it was forecast to start raining followed by snow. Sure enough, 21 inches of snowfall mixed with rain. A large branch went through the roof of my daughter's house, no power for over a week, no gas stations had any power, power lines down, trees down everywhere. The only available gasoline was 40 miles away in Burlington. What a mess. When we picked up a generator at my son-in-law's work, we didn't carry it to the truck, we crawled on our hands and knees dragging it across the parking lot. I am sure you and others have experienced the same.

Heck, we had an ice storm like that here in SE Missouri a couple of years ago. We are still cleaning up from it. You couldn't go hardly anywhere for a while due to the down trees, power lines etc.

I kind of like the snow, but man not the ice. Of course we don't get much snow; maybe I wouldn't like it so much if we got more of it.

Roy you must have been reading my mind on the chains. Great website... Thanks for the info... Now as a newbie.... I'm gonna have questions on the different kinds of chains... spacing, link type, etc. I have R4's. Do you know if that place in Johnstown has a retail store or is it all web sales?

Looks like we're in for at least 4-8" in my area... Maybe more. Big concern is that there is still a lot of leaves on the trees. Heavy wet snow does not mix with leaves on trees.

They do not have a store to visit...I wanted to go to Johnstown to pick mine up, but there is no provision for customers at their warehouse at all.
I can tell you they're quite helpful over the phone...country boys though, so don't expect smooth, polished salesmanship. But they can make recommendations as far as what would work best for your circumstances. They do sell out of some sizes and types...sooner you call, the better.
Before you call, measure the spacing between your tire's sidewall and the fender. Wouldn't hurt to have the measurement from the top of the tire to the fender too. For ladder type chains, they recommend 2.5" minimum clearance.
It cost me about $32 for shipping to just SE of York, PA. It'll be close to that for you, I would think.
BTW, if you have a ballast box or other ballast you can put on the 3PH, that'll help. I did OK with R-4's (no chains) for 6 years (on my 790), but every now and then I'd have to push out with the loader...a bit of a pain, but better then a shovel. Also, since your Kubota is new to you, read about how to use the differential lock...you might need it tomorrow.
As I wrote, I haven't installed my chains yet as I figured I'd be mowing again...well, I hope I don't regret not putting them on...but if necessary, I'll do it tomorrow. I have turfs now, BTW.

Stupid snow. I have limbs down all over the place. I lost one big oak, 2foot diameter. Plus my favorite oak back in the woods took a bad beating. This tree is at least 3 foot diameter and goes up bout 100 foot then branches off into three big limbs. Really got tore up. The B26 worked nice though. I have 1100 feet of drive and heavy snow does not blow. Thinking about a skid steer plow. At least the oak burns good.

Mmmmm.... firewood. A 36" oak makes a LOT of it. I see a tree down and get this warm feeling in anticipation.
