Some individuals on this site seem a mite touchy and hypocritical. Why would a poster on this site be banned for being in agreement with the original poster (original subject: off brand).

I presently own five tractors, two are also off brand Satohs which I purchased new many years ago. They turned out to be stupid investments. Had I bought major brand they would today be worth a far greater return.

I don't think anyone could go wrong taking advice from farmwithjunk, he seems to be a walking encyclopedia regarding tractors.

In the end, people who get upset over a difference in opinions should get a life.

I know a guy that had the same opinion when comparing his Ford and Ford-New Holland tractors. He said his then new Ford-New Holland was a lot cheaper made and lighterweight than his Ford.

I'm curious about your Satoh's, as basically an orphaned tractor, how the resale has held up after all these years? If you wouldn't mind telling us, what did you pay for them and what model are they? I know we took a Bolens (Iseki) 4x4 tractor/loader in trade last year. The guy had it for 25 years and got 80% of his money back when he traded it in to us. I suppose if it were a Kubota he might have got 90%, but he did well.

Do you happen to know what New Holland model he was comparing and to what Ford model?

I don't recall exactly which one it was, it has been several years. The tractors were of similar HP, and only a few years apart in age.

If he was talking about the TC's compared to the 20 series then I would agree. But otherwise I didn't really see any drop in build quality for the utilty tractors and full ag tractors.

The two Satoh's I own are a S-470 Buck, used strictly for mowing at Two of our mobile home parks, the other is a Stallion S-750 , with a 6 ft. terrain King flail mower used at one of the farms we owned, we also used it on the parking lot of a restaurant tavern we owned to clear tight areas. I don't use either one much any more.

The price we paid for them I have no idea, I remember the floor plan was running out on them. Speaking of getting most of your money back, I sold my Case 580-E back-hoe and after 12 years got within 2,000.00 of what I paid for it.

The Satoh tractors gave way to Kubota Z-turns, the case BH to a Kubota 4630 -loader, dump truck and trailer to a PJ dump trailer.
