OK, next dumb question. I am putting an open hydraulic system on my Yanmar YM146. I want to be able to use the system on the front and back of the tractor with attachments via quick connections. When I don't have anything attached via the quick connections do I need to run a line between the cylinders lines to close the loop (should I accidently engage the value) or simply leave the system alone? I assume if I engage the value without anything attached it will dead end on the unattached quick disconnect and pressurize the line.

Making some progress, need lines and fittings. Going to start on the three point while waiting.

Making some progress, need one more hose and the hydraulics are complete. Going to build an ATV like (think Kolpin) 3 point with a few mods making it a bit more flexible. The 3 point will be hydraulic instead of 12 volt. Using what I could find at the salvage yard so the 3 point will be heavy (1/2 inch bar).

Got it finished, the hardest part was figuring out how to attach the hydraulic pump to the crankshaft in the front. I built the three point with a hitch detachment so I can build other attachments and use the hydraulics. I will eventually add another valve on the other side for hydraulics in the front.
