Off Road Diesel Price

I think he is FOS. As far as I know the only difference is the red dye. Either come in the same truck and dye is added as it's pumped for off road. He may be talking about the bio diesel. That is labeled on the pump. Some say it's great stuff but I steer clear of it as best I can but my diesel supplier claims all diesel in our area is 5% bio diesel. One place I know of that sells off road at the pump lists the product as 15% so I don't buy there.

Yesterday's delivery cost me $2.59 per gallon after sales tax was added.

Probably not so much FOS as totally misinformed.

I drove transport for a long time. Whether it's gas or fuel oil, it's all the same product no matter where. There are some proprietary terminals, but it's still just refined product. Refiners dump product into pipelines, and it gets shipped to destinations and stored in tanks. At that point it's just product, sorted by gravity readings. At the loading rack, red dye is added to track non road tax fuel. As for tuning the gasoline into say Shell product. Somewhere around 7 gallons of a Shell additive is injected by computer into 8500 gallons of product. All the brands do it, and non majors use additives like Top Tier. Bio diesel is a different duck. Some big truck stops have there own bio tank, and inject anything from 5-50%. It all depends on what's cheaper at any given time. Bio won't hurt your engine, but it has less BTU's thus less power, and less mileage. The biggest thing with high bio rates is in winter. It gels far easier than #2 diesel.

bought off road today. 1.95 per gal some stations are much higher than others. Maybe theirs has some special additive that makes it cost more per gal.

I just don't understand the different pricing of fuel other than , they are making more on their fuel per gal.that some others

Only one station in the area sells off road diesel, and you have to have a special gas card for it. Mine comes on monday! Currently 1.99/gal. Picking up 110gal for the winter to top off my oil tank and for my tractors.

Could be and old batch, slower turnover. The #2 tanks turn over faster and are set at the current price at the time of delivery.

Bought off road Saturday, paid $2.14. Price jumped 15 cents from the previous week, so that's a bummer. I bought 50 gallons.
