I've always wanted to make a smoker. It took a lot of hours but the first brisket made it worth it.
3/8 x 24 x 48 pipe and a sheet of 1/4 plate

The fact that you do the cutting freehand is impressive, definitely a talented craftsman

That was a great project and video. The brisket looks delicious!

If you want to build another one off your first prototype, I'll help you out by covering your materials for this one and come pick that one up so you can build v2.0. I think I could get some use out of that!

You need to install some counterweight on the back to help with opening that lid. A little high temp paint would look nice on it too.

OP... fanastic video. I was 'riveted'. Loved the part where the level was backlighted by the arc. Great editing. Learned a few tricks in quick fashion too. Thanks for posting!

Looks good. I have built a number of reverse flow smokers over the years.

The most useful feature I have added was automatic temperature control.

These are two of the methods I have used.

Thanks for the kind words.

I kept track of my labor hours and material cost as I built it. I think if I ever sold it or similar the price would have to be at least $2200.
I might paint it, but I see so much unpainted farm stuff from my grandfather built 50 years ago that has only surface rust I'm not sure it is worth it.

I installed a counterweight and opening is much easier.
