Hey, Gary, I just have one (Edgar) who is 7 and whose father was a four time national specialty breed champion. We have never shown him, but have loved him unconditionally. When I get home, I'll try to remember to attach a picture of Eddie.

We were sad to have him neutered recently because he had repeated prostate infections; the vet felt that was the best choice to keep him healthy. I apologized profusely to him and he seems to be doing well. Had my first golden (George) for 15.5 years. We backpacked Colorado and Wyoming together and I will never forget his friendship and love. As you can see, we take our pets seriously and love them as family members (won't take time now to describe the cats).

BTW, Pete (Boondox) has a rescue service for Goldens. He's an orange tractor guy, but if he sees this, maybe he'll post some pics of his great dogs. Hi, Pete, if you see this.

Now, if the tractor comes and the house gets built, our animals will have a great place to grow old along with us. (see my post on the Land in the pictures forum).

GOOD NEWS: all tractor parts and implements and tractor are in and will be picked up in ONE WEEK! I find myself going vroooom, vrooom and making other "boy noises" (no, not that kind!).

Bill,

Those Goldens are really special. I'm looking forward to seeing Eddie. I think if we're going to have an 'Official TBN Dog Breed,' it'd have to be Goldens. Then again, I'm a bit biased. I love 'em!/w3tcompact/icons/love.gif

I'm glad to hear everything is in for your 4310. Is everything on and dealer serviced yet? I'm guessing not or you wouldn't be waiting a week to go get it./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary,

In your bio, you didn't list pets (guess I didn't either). Do you have any Goldens? I think I've heard Edgar bark less than 10 times. This is surprising to people since he weighs about 85 pounds. The joke in our family is how he would welcome any intruders and be happy to help them find anything to take if they just pat him on the head or rub his "E spot" (breastbone). You've seen my other posts... Edgar: "Oh, boy, my favorite: robbers!" I'll try to remember to post that picture.

Bill,

Sadly at this time I don't have a Golden. I had a wonderful female (Corey) I lost to cancer. I'm now in a living situation where having another is not an option. I've now gotten to the point where I'd be comfortable having another and, with the land I bought, would have plenty of room for one (or more). Unfortunately, there's no house on the land so I'm one BIG project away from living there.

I know what you mean about the "guard dog" aspect of Goldens. Mine slept through the burglary of my ATTACHED garage./w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Whoever did the deed had to have help and a good sized truck given what all was taken and nary a bark. Oh, well... they're great companions with wonderful dispositions./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary,

Sorry about your dog. Sometimes I hear people say they want to avoid a close relationship with dogs and other pets because it hurts so badly when they lose one. They don't have the chance to experience the joy, either! I hope your time for a new friend will be short. Here's that picture of Edgar I promised.

Speaking from the experience of having had over 100 goldens...if you want a golden to attack an intruder, throw a tennis ball at the bad guy!
