Pushing 80, been driving since 14. On freeways, your choice of speed is yours to make. On two lane roads however one should determine what the "flow speed" is and use that - it will usually be a bit more than the posted. Reason, on two lane roads in moderate to heavy traffic it is hard to pass, going slower than what everyone else is doing is creating a road block. Cops usually allow bout 10% over the posted.
I have driven in 49 of hte 50 states, Germany, Turkey, Canada and Japan. Collected 3 tickets total in all that time, two of them in speed traps. One in Georgia where every out of state car was stopped, the other in Germany - passing a bicylist in a no passign zone, bicyclist turned around and repeated his run whil the cop was writing my ticket. The third was head up a dark place.
